Our 40g Island waterfall

the set up is so very unique. love it. gotta say i like your version 2 better!

I wanted to do something like this with my 125G. I may still do it. I love your tank!!! I have a rimless frag tank this would look good with too. dang it! just when I thought I was done spending money on my tank for a while! haha!

Thanks guys for the compliments now that were over the crash im liking how the tank turned out as well :)

ok so... I have been in this hobby for a while now and this is by far the coolest tank I have seen in a while. So, I have some questions if you don't mind. Do you have issues with rock that is dry versus wet on the water fall? do you have issues with algae build up in the clear tubing? and do you have any videos of how you made the waterfall?

I have a reef ready 125G tank I am going to a large re-aquascape soon. I am not in any hurry to get it done either. I have 150-200lbs of dry rock just sitting in my basement being cured or in a box dry not including the rocks in the tank. I think I may haver come across this thread at the perfect time!!

No issues whwet dry meets wet in fact the dry exposed part wicks water up from the tank and waterfall and stays wet and even stays purple with coraline ckoser to the water, the lines do need to be cleaned once or twice a year to keep coraline from bkocking them but ive only done it a couple times so far in its almost three years running

No videos of the waterfall lines on the isislanbeing made sunce i switched to 3/8" lines but im sure i could dig up sone pics for you if your interested :)

That would be awesome! I think you bored out the rock and used two part epoxy for the water pathway? I have a bunch of large pukani dry rock that when placed upside down looks exactly like your island. I made several structures with mortar. They seem to be holding up well.

The rock had the channels in it already but pukani being so porous and so many holes we used vertex 2 part epoxy to channel the water where we want and to create little basins at the end of the channels years later the epoxy looks like original rock :)

Its a fun tank for sure my fave to date :)

Thanks guys for the compliments :)

So next weekend this tank gets disassembled and moved to our new house we've moved this tank before so we have an idea what we're in for but it's a PITA

A better location is chosen so I can now get full views of all three sides right now I get 2 and can kinda see the third lol

We have an order arriving soon for some new zoas got an ASD leprechaun getting added to the mix and a dozen other cool zoas

After we settle in the new house we will look at adding a small goby pair :)

Cheers and thanks everyone wish us luck :)

Well folks the tank gets to sit here all week to its self in the old house while we're off to the new one today, the move of the tank happens next Saturday . I have a friend going to check up on it this week and in the meantime I'll prep its new location

Enjoy the last video at this location the next will be in our new house :)

Good luck little buddy be a good boy lol :)

The tank is stunning. You did a phenomenal job. I was loving it until page 12. The tank became too crowded with so many beautiful specimens. There is no room for them to grow. It's still an awesome, awesome tank.

What are you using to take those pictures?

Thanks , we trim constantly as I'm not looking for any particular dominant coral to take over so we actually dont allow them to grow out maybe if I had a bigger tank but at 40g my options were basically let 5 corals grow out or control how much growth we get and allow :) I like the diversity and being mostly soft corals they mingle well , the bottom is a free for all of basic common corals the island itself sees reg pruning and I'm a bit picky about what goes up there :) at around 15yrs of keeping reeftanks ive got an idea now what does what and why it does it :)

It's a mix of galaxy s7 and iPhone 7

Thanks for the compliments :)

Cheers
