Figured I'd give some details on maintenance and the day to day routine we do for this system
We run a more simple method to reefkeeping with a 1yr old baby and full time work that brings me out of town half the year it needed to be consistent and simple
In the sump we run a 7" filter sock I'll admit it usually doesn't changed until its it's own ecosystem lol
We have a refugium after the sock that's filled with sand and rock then cheato on the top that grows quite well under a marineland led fixture
We skim on the dry side so I get about a 1/4 cup of skimmate every 1-2 weeks which isnt alot but its consistant and we only have 3 small fish but a very heavy coral bioload
Between the drain section and the filter sock we have matella filter pads and same between the refugium and skimmer is another pad this allow water to get through but no debris or animals (snails and crabs mostky) this stuff is amazing
Every 2 weeks before a wayer change we clean the waterfalls, basically a scrub with a toothbrush for 5mins and open the lines right up to clear them of loose debris , once a year or twice a year I'll clean out the lines using a long cable this gets off any coraline that grows in the water mines
We feed the fish usually pellets every day or do and a homemade frozen food mixture we just started using that everyone seems to love it's basically clams shrimp and crabs put in a blender with some mysis
This tank has zero clean up crew short of some snails that got smuggled in and have reproduced and some Chitons.....actually I have tons of these now lol seem to love our tank
For water changes we try to do 20g every two weeks and at that time I'll add a small amount of calcium chloride , mag sulfate and baking soda to raise the alk a bit ....currentky on AF seasalt for some time now and we like it
I'm constantly trimming corals it's a full time job making sure no one outgrow their neighbor this involves just snipping off heads or stalks with scissors and in more extreme cases taking the colony off and cutting it down to smaller sizes I had to do this recently and I'm sure more often in the future as stuff grows faster
In the 3yrs we've been running the jebao return pump has been running strong no issues with it at all , the jebao currently runs the display and feeds the waterfalls lines
We run atm no gfo or carbon or any external reactors and have quit vinegar dosing as nitrates eventually evened out close to zero ......we have done 1 water test i believe since the crash and use my eyes to see how the tanks doing for the most part
All in all it's a pretty simple tank with little maintenance
Any questions feel free to ask away guys
Cheers
