Wow, first a 450g reef, now a 360g Predator? Nice. What do you plan on putting in this one?

Looking great Terry! Once your all done i just might have to make a road trip.
So what kind of predators are you thinking of?

We already have a Picasso, Clown trigger, Snowflake Eel, Ghost Eel (which we only see once every other month), a Porcupine Puffer, Cherry Louti Grouper, and recently we added an Undulated Trigger. We MIGHT add a large eel, or maybe a Queen Angel.

And come on up anytime, Frankie! We'd love to have you visit.

We got the tank cleaned out last evening. We also got the drain pipe completed. Once I get the CL pipes run and get the unionized ball valves installed, then I can start to fill the tank. That will take a while as I'm going to fill it with RO/DI saltwater so I'll be adding 360g of clean water to the entire system. I'm hoping to have it filled by early next week and then get the predators and the rock moved. The new lights should be here on Monday. I ordered two of these. I really want the lighting to look at least close to each other between the two tanks. This light also solves my moonlighting problem.

Just out of curiosity. On the new stand I see you have metal stilt type legs for leveling. Do you have the same setup on the filled tank stand next to it? The question or curiosity is.....you would think the weight would cause them to pierce/break the ceramic/slate tile. No?

Actually, the tile is just stick down vinyl and it's placed directly on the concrete. The 450 has the same leveling mechanism and it works great. In fact, I used 1/2" bolts and 1/4" angle iron on the 360, but the 450 legs (someone else built that stand) only has 3/8" bolts with the pound in type of metal inserts in it.

This method really allowed for meticulous leveling. I couldn't have gotten it this level by using shims. I have an eight foot level and the bubble is exactly in the middle in every direction.

I wish I would have taken a picture of what I did before I put it all together. Also, the 2x4 framing around the bottom is independant of the legs and is leveled separately. The keep the bottom of the legs from moving. Then I'm going to cut 3/4" plywood and install that between the legs, about the middle way up, to really solidify the position/strength of the legs. I'll fasten the plywood with steel angle braces. I'm going to do that before filling the tank too.

The whole stand will be skinned with Oak boards and vaneer, then stained to match the color of the 450 stand.

I got the CL plumbing pretty much figured out. I won't know for sure until the tank is mosly full and I can move the pumps from the 150 over to the 360. Then I can see how everything lines up and make the minor adjustments needed. I did go ahead and install the gate valves on all the holes and closed them so I can start filling it. I'm missing some locline pieces though and they won't be here until Monday. I'm going to wait for them and get them installed before filling the tank because it wouldn't be easy putting them in after the water is in the tank. Not impossible, just not as easy. I'd have to be under water to install them and I'd rather avoid that if possible.

Dude, when are you making a trip here to VA to check out these TWO beasts? You KNOW we'd love to have you visit. Heck, I might even spring for some good coffee! :D

woohoo! thats an offer indeed, you do know my pants have plastic pockets? Did you get the locline tool or are you doing the Manly Stanly on them?

I use the floor method on the locline. Place the fitting on the floor, put the other piece on top of it, and PUSH! HARD! It works...

It's actually not that difficult. I squeeze the pieces between my hands and get them to snap together. Getting them apart is a little bit more of a challange but it's not impossible either.

Great idea! Wish I would have read this BEFORE I put a bunch of it together and installed it in the tank.

Pics??? Man, YOU are a good one to talk about PICS!!!

I'll get some tomorrow. I got the locline installed inside the tank so it's ready to start filling. I did add 40g and I have another 40g mixing now. I figure I'll be adding in between 80 and 120 gallons a day so it will take a few days to get it filled up. For now I just have the CL bulkheads closed off with gate valves. I didn't want to glue all the pipes together until I get the tank full, move everyone over from the 150, and then move the pump over so I can get the pipes exactly the way they need to be instead of guessing.

I also bought five royal grammas for in the 450. We can still find three of them. No idea where the other two are. There are just TOO many holes for them to hide in. Hopefully during feeding time tomorrow they'll venture out so we can see them. The three we can find have set up camp BEHIND the rocks. Why do we buy fish like these???

sorry Im still LMAO lol, its sooooo big! I have trouble with the scale you put in 5 RG's lol, guess you ro/di unit dosent have any short run problems, you know Im stingy with pics, over there... I had everything up by attachment, when I left I took them all off the site, even photo bucket.
