Our first attempt at raising Perculas

Where are you housing all these pairs? Are you keeping the pairs by themselves on a breeder type system (multiple tanks plumbed together?)

All the pairs have their own tank..

My Sanjay Photons are in my 375g reef tank, my Ocellaris are in a 40g breeder, my Black Ice are in a 65g with my seahorses, the other 3 pairs are in 10g tanks.
My goal is to have breeder system, we purchased a bunch of 10g tanks, painted and drilled them... Then when we were installing them... Ed ever so slightly bumped one of the bulk head fitting and cracked the tank at the fitting..
Well needless to say, that was the end of the drilled tank system... So I purchased more 10g tanks with HOB filters and individual heaters and an awesome air pump...

I have a few bids on the breeder systems..Just waiting on the OK..... If you know what I mean... :wavehand:

Batch 2 is doing fine... I started feeding Octomine A yesterday...

The parents laid a new clutch of eggs yesterday... I'm quickly running out of room & tanks..

Sandy did you have a hard time with true percs vs the other clownfish that you are breeding? Like the survival rste of the percs vs the other frys??

Super busy day today!
Both Ocellaris & Sanjay Photons laid eggs today!!!
The Ocellaris laid eggs one day early this time......
We are going to be super busy in 8 nights... Thank goodness we have two fry collectors...

Just awesome :). What a great thread. Thank you. I've been stock up on phytoplankton cultures getting ready for the same journey. Rotifers should be here tomorrow. Thanks again

Hi Sandy got another question for you are anyone else that is reading here.
I remember either in my thread or one of yours that I was told that if you shine a light directly at the eggs it will delay thd hatching. By how many days will it delay them from hatching?

If I remember correctly... Someone posted they waited at lease 1 hour after lights out to turn "on" the light on the fry collector, because they experiance hatches on day 8 and day 9...

Hope that helps...

Nope thats not it. I read somewheres that if you shune the light directly at the eggs it would delay the hatching. I just can't remember were I read that at. I was just wandering for how long would it delay them? The eggs started turning silver yesterday and that would be day 6 from her laying the eggs.

Just wondering what sort of diet you are using to condition them to lay eggs. I have read in Hoff's book that diet has big affect on number of eggs laid, hatch rate and subsequent survival rate.

Sorry I couldn't help...keep :reading::reading::reading: and share the link with us please...

We feed a combination of foods PE mysis shrimp, Rods breeder formula and New Life Spectrium Thera Plus A.

Hi Sandy well we are hatching right now and it is a day early. Day 7 it might end up being a spikt batch will know hy morning.

I think I got about 20 on Saturday night and about 15 to 20 last night but did not look like there was that many in the tank this morning when I checked on them.
I think it is my rotifiers they are just not multiplying like I was hoping for. Might have to order a new bag of them and start fresh maybe even two bags...

Well Sandy we still have babies swimming around now I pray that my rotifers will last. When can I add the baby brine shrimp for them to eat mixed in with the rotifers? 4-5 days after hatching? 6-8 days after hatching?

FWIW TDO Chroma BOOST A is a much better feed for this purpose. Its Otohime, but top dressed. TDO Small/Medium/Large are great for broodstock conditioning.
