A quick picture of my female Ocellaris Clownfish, Looks like she is ready to explode with eggs... I'm more than sure she will be laying them today!

Yes, she is very huge! She lays over 200 eggs... I could feed her in the middle of her laying eggs, and she will go right back to laying eggs!

I borrowed the one I have been trying to use. Next week I will be ordering my own fry trap collector.

I have noticed when I pass the tank early in the mornings as I start turning lights on that my clownfish are asleep.. My question is do the eggs end up with fungus on them since they are not being attended to during the night?

Not that I'm aware of, the parents do a very good at keeping the eggs clean.

We collected eggs on day "9" to my surprise.. We turned off all the lights around 9 and at 10:30 we had collected over 100 larva, most were in the collector and only a few were swimming at the water level. We stopped collecting around 1 am and went to bed. We left the collector in the tank with the air stone on and turned on all the pumps... To my surprise this morning there were about 50 babies in the collector!!!
Not all of the eggs hatched last night. I'm not sure if I'm going to collect the remaining larva, it looks like we have over 300 babies.. These babies are bigger than my 2 day old Sanjay Photons...

Dumb question here how do you count all those tiny fry ??? Especially when there is over a hundred or more?

Absolutely. I really miss having sub 1/4 inch clowns around, it is very cool watching them go through meta and come out looking like minis. I stare at my growout for long periods of time until my wife comes over and asks what it is that I'm looking for, I just tell her, nothing, just watching clowns be clowns. I keep thinking I'm going to start getting some different strains (darwins, picassos, snowflakes, platinums), but convincing the wife is going to be an issue. Wish I had a fish room. Maybe when my 10 year old moves out to college, I can convert his playroom? :hammer:

I know exactly what you're talking about...
I stare at the babies for a long time too... It's so cool watching them develop into fish..:fish2::fish2::fish2:
(Sometimes I find Ed staring at them too....)
I picked up a beautiful pair of Platinum's the other day..... Ed keeps asking me...
why??? why??? why??? do you want another pair????
I said... honey... There is really only one more pair I want to add to the collection... and I promise... that will be the last pair.... :beer:
