Our Mini 425 Ocean

Leochu
Yeah I did the framing. I had to go back and add a few beams so every piece of dry wall butted up to a 2x4. My roof was off by 1 inch from 1 side to the other. So I also had to make some other adjustments. But I made sure to drill into the concrete and screwed into the rafters of the roof. I wanted to make sure it was secure. The french door alignment was a little PITA. My dad came over and got it straightened out for me in about 10 minutes. All in all it wasn't too bad at all.

Thanks nano girl. I had a long day yesterday. It was all about linear accelerators and bending magnets, and changing dose yada yada yada.... Nugh said!!

Costeroma
Yeah that had a couple nice ponds like that. I told the wife that is next in line. She laughed and gave me the look. HAHHAH.

Tattooreef Sweet..I cant wait to see your updates.

Nothing new to add except I ordered my Dolphin pump. When I get some time I am going to order a couple hundred lbs of marco rocks.

You're welcome! Linear accelerators aren't usually too bad for me, but when I get into bending magnets look out! NARF!

Our Aquarium is crap. If you come to visit again be sure to the Steinhart aquarium. It is located at the Academy of Sciences building on 5th Street and howard in S.F. It is way more interesting :)

Thanks Tikidan ..I am going to Yosimete this weekend but I have to come back in September for a couple weeks and will check it out..

Thanks Hop

I can't wait to see the plumbing on this system, I'm sure it'll be top notch! I'll be following along for sure!

Thanks everyone.
I have been focus on controllers and other gadgets. I am throwing a couple ideas around. I will definitely have some type of digital display on the wall. Just adding up the cost and comparing controllers. I was almost thinking about doing some motorized light rack. I think I need to slow down a little. I do have a little one on the way. I love all the electronic gizmos. GIZMOS and TOYS = $$$$$$

Dudester your plumbing is sweet. If it is half as good as yours I will be happy.

I want my plumbing to be real simple. Less is less to break. But then on the other hand. The equipment, designing, and building add to the enjoyment of this hobby. I just don’t want to get too out of hand. I am looking around on ordering spaflex. I want to use as much as possible. I might have a connection form a friend. We all know how that goes. So far I have a dart, om4, fluid filter, phosphate, and a little skimmer. I am looking around for a used calcium reactor. I might just make one. I really want to start the tank out with a calcium reactor. Another thing I have been thinking about was making a bigger sump. Then I could use my 75 for refuge instead of the planed 55. If I had more space I would use the 150 I have. It is just too wide to fit under my tank. I only have about 3 feet to the left 1 ½ foot on the right.

I will post some drawings soon. Hopefully I can get some good feedback and maybe some better ideas. Thanks for the interest everyone..

Congrats on the little one Eric. Sounds like you have a lot of plumbing and the overall design planned out quite well. Can't wait to see some updated pics!

I just don’t want to get too out of hand, when the thread was created it states "Our Mini 425 Ocean" i believed you're too late  . that would be nice building your owed CA reactor and congrats on the little one

Thanks Bart and Brandon. I hope to get the major system up and going before my little one arrives. Bart you said it it can get out of hand quickly. I am trying to hold my self from spending a lot, it is just so hard..HHAHAH

Here is my equipment setup as promised. Everything will be on one wall. One side drywall the other side part of my office. I am going to have some pipes running to the garage for water changes and water storage. Any input and constructive criticism is welcome. Thanks....

Eric, I know how it is with all the toys..... It adds up but is part of the fun :) This is one of the reasons I like this hobby so much. It combines a whole bunch of things I really enjoy, building things, gadgets, chemistry, biology and on and on......

Coming along nicely... as mentioned before I'm jealous of your progress.. I truelly hope everything keeps going relatively smoothly. Funny how these builds snow ball, I started off by researching for a 210g standard tank (320g system volume) and somehow dilluted myself into going with a 480g custom tank (1000g system volume). Hell of a lot of fun but dangerous.

And yes the gadgets are addictive and certainly a large part of the fun. The diagram looks great. Looking forward to more progress.

diagram looks nice, what program? always good to have mini fridge in the fish room to keep all the cold ones for the last nighters.

thanks NG and Mikd_reefer

Dandy7200 I love the toys and everything about the hobby... Exceot maybee the expense .hahahah. Oh well..Got to do something...

thirschmann you have nothing to be jealous off. I started building a wall and after 2 days of work I had to leave for a month.........Oh well . My tank should be ready soon after I get back wohoo.

Bart I used Microsoft Power Point and then just saved it as a jpeg. It not as slick as google sketch up, but I have used Power Point back form my Networking days...
