Our Mini 425 Ocean

Eric, a couple of thoughts. What are your plans for accessing the front of the tank? Hopefully you'll have doors that are removable since you'll need good front glass access in this monster of a tank. Second, what corals do you plan to keep and what else do you plan for supplemental flow? If you plan on having a lot of SPS and no powerheads, I'm not sure the Dart will provide enough flow through your 4-way. If you will have powerheads, or if the tank won't have a lot of SPS I'm sure the Dart will be more than adequate. Lastly, do you plan on using a chiller? Again, it's looking great so far! Keep the progress coming.

Thanks everyone for the nice coments.
Mflamb I hope my light rack turns out like as good as yours.
Dandy7200 I was thinking of keeping fish food in it. This way I stayed out of the kitchen and our freezer. NanoGurl does have a good point. Ah Corona’s there means I never have to leave the office. hhahhaha
Thanks TriGa22 I think this is the best size for my room and budget. I really do like wide tanks. Next time it will be at least 4 foot wide.
Dudester I am going to have about a 6 inch opening if the front above the tank. It is going to be crown molding shelf on a hinge. Coral wise I am going to have a mix of what I like. I will definitely add more flow with some power heads. I noticed great results in the past with added flow just with FO and LR tanks. Thank you everyone for your input.

Not much to post since I am still out of town. I went to Champ Car in San Jose today and took some pics. There were some incredible cars..750 HP 2.5 turbo V8 Cosworth. SWEEETT..They shot up to about 180 and came to hairpin U Turn. We had some Paddock passes and got to see the cars up close. Here are some pics …

Oh.. thats powerpoint for the diagram. I have to try that. I don't do so well with sketch up. thirschmann is the master of sketch up. My pipes go off in every direction. God help me if I ever put water in one of my diagrams, I would flood the house.

back from the vacation yet? How is the tank coming along?

thanks pcostanze, piping is one of the hardest thing to recreate in sketch up. Only rockwork might be harder. It is also helpful if you create the room without plumbing, print it out, and then pencil in the plumbing. I did this at first because its less time consuming then working it out on sketch up. Once you have the basics worked out you can put it in 3d in sketch up if you want. I can email you my files if you just want to copy my plumbing.

and won't it be great if we could put water in the sketch up work so that we could test resistance and flow in our setups. There are programs that can do that but they cost more then some of our tanks :D

I am back. I had to spend some time with the wife. She came to see me in CA 2 weeks ago and she missed me the last 2 weeks I was away. AWWW.A month away from home is a long time. Well go figure my tank will ready for me to pick up tomorrow. I need to get moving on my wall ASAP. I came home to a few goodies. I have been ordering while away. I want to get the wall painted this weekend. I am going fishing this weekend so will have to squeeze some late night hours in. I am going to go shopping for some wood floors but I will post some pics of the goodies tonight, and tank tomorrow.

Thirschmann and Invincible are kings of sketchYeah Pcostanzo

Who has the best price on Reef Crystal reef salt? I wanted to order a few buckets. Anyone has some good fair priced places for fish online?

Thanks..

Thanks nano girl I was just about to oder 3 fish and it was $30 dollars shipping. $199 or more at petsolutions and it is free shipping. But I cant have salt and fish for free shipping. Oh well.. Thanks Bart and Nano Girl. I will just hold off on fish. I need a calcium reactor. I am trying to find one cheap. If I can find one cheap then I wont DIY..If I don't find one soon I ma going to order some acrylic tube and have a go at it..

It only costs $18 to have 6 buckets shipped to my zip code.. which is what you would need to order at petsolutions to get the $199 shipping deal, but it's $20 cheaper with DFS bc their salt is $31.99 instead of 34.99. That is what I meant.

Goodluck!

petsolutions is free and doesnt matter if you order just one
Need to order $199. for free freight now. 1 bucket will cost $9.99 to ship.

omg thats bummer, they went up. i need to placed another order before they change their mind again.

Yea was 9.99 for shipping for me too... i was wrong though, RC is 36.99 it was IO for 34.99... yet another reason DFS is better.

Well I snapped a couple shoots of some goodies. I got my dart, OM4, fluid, phosban filter.
