my tank: 65g 36"x18"x24"(H)
sand - pink sand, shallow
corals: some sps, more LPS

my problem: have a 6080 thats probably going to be too powerful.

1. solutions? OK, not ideal i know. id be gettin 33x turn over from that powerhead alone.

2. if i cover part of the intake, (of course the pump will still try and use full capacity, but it will be less output) the suction will be stronger creating a fish hazard?

3. can i get a second powerhead, maybe a 6060 to go against and on the other side of the 6080 to slow it down or something?

4. more ideal would be 2 6045's or 2 6060's?

5. can i modify the prop?

6. since its 24inches high and im going to keep it at least 4 inches below the surface, will the flow affect the sandbed 3 feet away 20 inches down?

7. if i put the powerhead on the back corner of the tank facing forward, the flow can wrap around the front of the tank?

yeah, thats all for now

You can put a 6060 prop on it and reduce the flow to a 6060, it will use more power than a 6060 because it ahs a stronger coil but the flow will be the same.

They cost about $11. It is pretty simple to replace, just unscrew the 6080 prop and screw on the 6060 prop, just be careful not to overtighten and break the screw.

You can order on on tunze.com
