Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

I meant Elos Aqua Studio. Never been there and heard good things about it.

I just broke the news to Hermit Crab (x10) and Snail (x10) . . . Although Hermit Crab (x10) is crying and beating its breast (with the bigger claw) in maudlin anguish . . . Snail (x10) is arrogantly sticking up a "middle" tentacle in your direction . . . [emoji56][emoji23][emoji50] (LOL)

Elos is great! Smaller, but, incredibly clean, great livestock, and great people! Highly recommended.

LoL! Ok if I come up to elos, ill visit crab and snail!

I had no expectations of a silent pump, but, the tank has an omnipresent sound that is just a tad louder than a cricket . . . If it is just a little quieter, I think that I will give it a go.

Yes mine makes this noise as well. The Eheim was much quieter but of course I had the flow issue. I will try the Sicce 2.0 next.

Well, thank you volunteering as class "guinea pig" . . . I would love to hear your thoughts vis-a-vis comparative "loudness" of the stock pump versus the Sicce 2.0.

Cool. I will report back once I have the pump acquired (working on it) and up and running. It will probably be next weekend as I'm traveling this week and I've learned my lesson making changes to the tank right before heading out for a few days.

I promised myself I wouldn't go on the forum while on vacation but I did!!

The cruise was amazing. Celebrity Equinox was great and my daughter stole the show! Now Florence and Rome and back home.

Tank is doing great. Set up my drop cam before I left. Probably doing that well because I am leaving it alone.

Need to read through the last posts. Making sure reduck has his tank. I like my new return pump. I got the reducer from hd and was simple. The sicce is better than ehiem imo.

I was sold already but now I'm really sold on the Sicce. Go enjoy your vacation!

Is the stock pump really that bad..? Do I really need to spend $90-$100 on another pump that flows the same?

Not at all bad. It just never hurts to have more circ available!
There are plenty of folks running stock pump. Including me. I set mine back to stock a few weeks ago....

also.. I have a hard time deciding the 30L vs the 40 Mini.
Why did you pick the 40 and why? I am kind of leaning towards the 40 because I wouldn't have to get a second light unit on a 36" 30G
but I like the appearance of the 30L better

The shallow long tanks are better for wide aquascaping. The taller tanks are better for high aquascaping.
I got the 40 because I liked the format and size!

You need to get what's right for you. If you really like the look of the 30, go for it. It's only one more light!

So, less than a week and my IM Hydrofill ATO has either: (a) quit; (b) decided to stage a work stoppage action; (c) sneaked off to Zihuatanejo with Red to join Andy (leaving a mock-up of itself in its own place; and/or (d) is caught in a time-loop of inoperability.

It worked fine up until today. The controller unit recognizes that the level is low. However, in a fine effort to haze me, the pump does not turn on to refill the main tank. I have unplugged the unit in an effort to reset it, to no avail. I plunged the detectors into the water and then removed, only to be mocked by the silence.

So, anyone have any sage advice?

(If you listen quietly, you can hear my ATO laughing and laughing and laughing - at me)

I can't say that I can think of anything to try that you haven't already tried. But if you're looking at moving to a different ATO, I've been extremely pleased with the Avast ATO. You can order it configured with a switched outlet (which allows you to use any pump of your choice) or with connections that allow the pressure sensor to work with an Apex. I just went with the diaphragm pump but will probably replace that with a peristaltic pump at some point.

I've never heard (read) anything bad about the Tunze Osmolator either.

Mindstream and More

Just wanted to make sure that everyone got a heads-up that it looks as though there is some action on the MindStream monitor to be expected tomorrow. http://www.mindstreamh2o.com

I think I'll sit on the sidelines, cautiously optimistic, to see what happens before declaring it a must-have. I love the thought of no more titration tests... and my wife loves the notion of not having cuvettes drying in the kitchen window perpetually. The years of "vaporware", though, have me a bit leery.

In other news, I'm not entirely satisfied with the flexible tubing coming out of the DOS and into the overflow area. I think I'm going to try to find some rigid tubing that can be made into a U-shape over the top of the sump in order to keep the flex tubing out of the DOS from having to make that bend and possibly get kinked.

I have a tailspot blenny in my QT waiting until next weekend to get into the DS. My friend has a starry blenny (same?) and he loves to dive to the GSP and hide only to pop out when people are looking. Very cool fish.
