Not the prettiest rock in the world, but it looks like you did a very good job of aquascaping. I see so many 'wall of rock' or 'how much can I fit in here??' aquascapes with super high quality rock that has such greater potential and it makes me cringe. Looks like you did a great job. Sorry to preface that compliment with what sounded like an insult, but I think it is an even greater compliment that you made something so functionally attractive even without having ridiculously incredible rock.

Anyone using the Kessil 160 on their IM 40? I one on mine but its just out of its cycle and was trying to find out if it will be good enough. Plan is a few fish and mushrooms only.

I gather that is to be taken as a resounding recommendation of the AI over the Kessil.

Have you noticed better growth (assuming other parameters have remained the same)?

What about the issues with the app? Do you run the AI controller unit , use the app, or use a third party control mechanism? Either way - what are your feelings on the functionality of said control mechanism vs. whatever you were using to control the kessil (assuming you were, and I would like to know specifically what you used to control it)?

No issues, i even can adjust from my photo love the setup super simple similar to Echotech but different. Kessil's programming was even easier though 0 control over colors which was good and bad lol. Yes better growth from AI.

Have you used a Radion G3, compared to those. I'm just not sure about the Kessil 160, but I really like the Kessil, and have 3 G3's on a 180.

I'm still not clear - do you use the AI controller, AI Director, the AI mobile app or a third party control mechanism?

Kessil imo looks the best (to the human eye), but imo the AI grows better out to the to and yes 160w imo is not enough power for the 40 fusion.

My apologizes I was confusing the two. I'm using the newest Kessil controller, nice little unit, feels as nice as a iphone quality.

I have all the Kessill models and Ecotech xr30 pro. Placed them on my fusion 40 and ended up with the xr30 pro on the tank. [emoji3][emoji106]

I spoke with someone at AI customer service today. Although he was unable to give me a firm release dat, he said HD line units should begin shipping this week. Heeeeellll yissssss.

Hi there, new here. This is my first tank.. been up and running since January.
I tried to read all previous posts but health/husband/18yrold daughter/2yr old Chocolate Lab/2 cats and my first saltwater tank kept interrupting.. go figure:crazy1: My current setup is..

IM Fusion 40
IM Mid-Size Ghost Skimmer
IM MiniMax Mid-size Reactor (Phosguard)
IM Spin Stream x2
IM Custom Media Basket (Purigen/CPE/Floss)
Ecotech MP10wqd x2
Ecotech Radion XR30w
Apex Controller w/WXM module
Tunze Osmolator 3155

Flame Hawkfish
Black Ice Snowflake Clowns x2
Solar Wrasse
Coral Beauty
Tiger Conch x2
Snails
Lots of Corals

Couldn't figure out how to post a pic of my tank.

I'm currently buying my RO/DI water from LFS. I mix my saltwater using Tropic Maron Pro-Reef Salt. I"ve been tossing around buying my own RO/DI System but it's pretty intimidating and a bit confusing. Was wondering if any of you that have one may be able to share your experience setting up a system and is it worth it for our size tank. Also, any recommendations on a good system?
Thanks!

First tank? Wow got a nice equipment list and stocking list!

Thanks! Still trying to figure things out. This is definitely an expensive hobby but I'm hooked. I was hoping to get some advice on a RO/DI system and whether it was worth getting for a tank our size. Maybe it will be more active here over the weekend

Ok, so . . . Added a red starfish to my tank, which is inhabited by two clowns, two cleaner shrimp, two conch, snails and hermits. After three days of exploring the crevices of the live rock (preceded by a painstaking acclimation) here are some pics of the star doing its best impression of Rocky Balboa after his first bout with Clubber Lang . . .

Any thoughts on which inhabitants portrayed Clubber Lang in this vignette? Starfish was great until it wasn't, and it went downhill fast. LFS offered to replace the now-deceased Mr. Balboa gratis, but if there is a killer in the midst, I'd rather not send another lemming off the cliff.

Thoughts and advice as my wife REALLY wants a starfish in the glass box full of saltwater . . .

Help. Someone please be my Apollo Creed . . .

I've had my Nuevo 40 up and running 3 weeks now and I'm wondering how everyone has there caddy arranged? How much is to much Chaeto? I'm currently using 2 Custom Caddy's. 1 of them has 1 mechanical sponge, 1 activated sponge, 1 phosphate sponge, and LR Rubble. The other 1 has 1 mechanical sponge, approximately 1 sandwich bag full of Chaeto, and LR rubble!!

how long has your tank been up and cycled? maybe a serpent star would be a better choice?

Thanks. Almost eight months for the tank, but everything came from an established system at ELOS Aquastudio NYC (great guys).

They replaced the red linkia star with an orange/red tile sea star gratis. Their theory is either an "on the way out" starfish or an unusually star-icidal hermit. They suggested the tile because it is hardier and crabs apparently leave them alone.

So, starfish watch 2015 continues . . .

I'm officially tapped out. The 40 was sold today to a young man from NJ. I told him to check in here for advice etc
All the best with your builds!
