I do appreciate that... my wife's and I other hoppy is travel...we level for Asia for 10 days first week in April so there is a little bit of urgency.....what modules are you running right now?

Thats a nice hobby! Lucky for us to get away once a year. This year is special. We willI do two trips.
I use the wxm for the ecotechs and leak detector modules now and the afs. Dos will be it for a while....
Though their new pumps look cool too...
Money just flies out of your pockets in this hobby.
Still not as bad as shooting sports. Besides the guns, each range trip can cost me upwards of 100+ in ammo. My insurance agent loves me. I up my gun coverage by 2k a year..

I took out on of my chemi pure blues and put in chaeto.. Going to see how my tank likes it. Like the idea of more natural removers of nitrates and phosphates. I would to remove my gfo reactor and make room for probes and dosing
On another note I have up sold myself to the full apex. Now deciding on what way for dosing. I need to put up some new pics of the tank

I was going to, but do to the issues with cleaning and most importantly the smaller snails getting stuck, I will go a head and get another mp10

1- In the initial parts of the thread I saw an Tunze 9004 is being used. Will it fit the tank? (I got 9001 because lfs assured it would fit but it seems to be for a smaller volume tank)
2.- Stock media basket - Any recommended media to begin cycling ?

People are using the 9004 and are pleased with the skimming, I am running the ghost as well as others because of the clean look for the tank and that it is made for it. I am big into clean looks. You want to make sure you have a skimmer rated for the tank or over, especially if you are going to have a heavy load
2.- Stock media basket - Any recommended media to begin cycling ?
Stock would work fine for cycling, I replaced all my media because I wanted to use chemi-pure and other carbon.. The key is to leave the media in there while you are cycling so it is building up the necessary bacteria for the tank.. If you do decide to replace it, do it now and leave it or replace one side and then a couple weeks later the other side ( important to keep the tank stable)
1.- Cycling, will the live sand be enough or should I use the denitrol ?
For me, live sand was not enough ( having a bag on the shelf for months really doesnt convert to "live' ) People will ghost feed, add in shrimp, a lot of different ways to start the cycle. The key is to start it
3.- I'm using the stock media basket. Any recommended media?
I have switch over to the caddy and on one side running floss, chemi-pure blue/purgien and carbon. Other side poly filter/chaeto. I also run a gfo reactor.
And as always..be patient. I am always learning in this hobby.

Just got back from thr keys. Nice and warm. Airlines screwed us and stuck us an extra day in ft lauderdale. I could think of worse. Came home to dry ato jug, expected that and a skimmer not working. Why does this stuff always happen when we go away??
Other than that, all is well. Afs worked great. Now to clean the skimmer to see what's going on...

actually looked at a lot of dos reviews. Damn that thing is huge! Going to have to think where I can stuff it in the cabinet along with the containers!

Welcome back to the snow. These are the winters I wished we still lived in miami..That is not bad empty ato and skimmer not working.. better than a crashed tank. I have a 9 gallon ato in the stand, so pretty good about that.I just set up my apple express for my apex that should arrive on thursday (wont be able to hardwire except for updates)
I also just purchased the eshopps 2 part container from drsfs for 39.99 (they are on sale). I am rearranging the cabinet as we speak.
Ya that DOS is huge, but I feel that i like the consistency of it and the idea of switching it over to do awc eventually..I have a 1940 cape and a basement, so i can drill holes down!

I haven't noticed the cleaning issue being mentioned on a lot of threads what specifically causes the headache with cleaning? I was thinking of getting both the maxspect and the new mp10 so I could use the mp10 to shoot some side current randomly to shake things up.
A couple people have stated that cleaning is going to be an issue because of having to pull off both sides and clean it. They really didn't go into depth but enough people said it for me to think.
You could do that for sure. I like the idea of a more controllable power head too that the mp10 and finally, just don't like wires coming out of my tank. A lot of people like them, I say go for it! And post a picture of course

Good deal on the container. Ordered one too. I'll rearrange the innards to make it all fit somehow!
I think next time we go away I'll just use a 10g ato container outside the stand.

Glad it wasnt that bad... I am running chaeto now in one of the caddies, so far so good. I tested my water again after 3 massive water changes from the crash and my ALK is still at 10.75 and Ca is at 480.. waiting for them to drop.
I do not think I am going to add anything until I get back from Asia, do not want to risk it... Start doing after I get back. I am working on getting another mp10, go the used route I think. Since the gyre is on the mark, the mp10s should drop significantly

Nice. I'm jealous. Jealous, that your wiring is neat and tidy already...I still haven't hung a thing. All piled in the top left compartment. I did put lighting in, but never turn on that section...I keep telling myself, wait till this arrives then do it. But there is always something new arriving! Doser and storage tank will be here next week. I THINK that's the last thing I can cram in there. I'll need to put a hanger in for that...and maybe move a shelf up...
