Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

That's crazy that you would receive a new product in that condition

Post some pictures of the new tank!

Any suggestions as to what you would do? I talked with several people at IM and they assure me it has a one year warranty. That doesn't exactly ease my mind since I have a lot of time and money invested in equipment, livestock and corals, not to mention, the damage and cleanup that could result if there is a failure. This is a serious issue to me. Do you think it is sound if I cleanup the silicone? Thanks.

I'll definitely post some pictures....

I run the Sicce 2.0 pump as well. Really tough to get in there. What surprised me was the flow was actually slightly less than the stock pump but I trust it more as the stock pumps have had their issues. In my case, I may have to rework the plumbing from the pump. Maybe it is too restrictive.

I have 2 Sicce 2.0 pumps and want to know what you feel. Is it worth changing out the stock pump? Does it provide more flow/turnover regardless of the specs of each pump you feel??

running:
Return: stock
Skimmer: tunze 9004
Reactor: BRS deluxe reactor
Powerhead: RW-4 with aqualink & WP-10
refugium: Cheato/live rock
LED: Ocean revive T247 10" above water

Tbh with you...if you are not happy with the product, tell IM...they should replace it. If it's not aesthetically or it doesn't ease your mind, then you will have psychological issues in the future lol. Constantly wondering, or you may even forget about it.

For me, I would return it and ask for another one. Not for Aestical issues, but to set my mind at ease. Now, there may be other issues, but at least You would've covered this base.

Here's the product you are referring to. Seems like a nice little cube, without the sump on the rear.

I have always gotten things fixed by IM I have one of their high end stands for my tank and the hinges where made wrong and would not stay closed so they sent me new hinges.

I have another call in to IM, but haven't heard back. I did contact Marine Depot and Daniel and Ivan have been very helpful.

After cleaning the silicone a bit, I realize that what is actually going on is that the left clear glass panel is chipped/scalloped gouging down that side. Must have been a tool used to polish the edges that did that? Since the glass is thinner in that area could that make it more likely to fail? It doesn't look nice either and keeping coraline off that area will be a pain.

I sent more photos and am waiting.

Im sure IM wouldn't have an issue swapping it out for another. I think you would be much happier and content.

Hey everyone... I've skimmed through some of this thread and wanted to ask some questions as I'm about to get this tank and want to fully research the needed equipment.

1. Is a Radion x15 Pro enough? Or is the x30 needed

2. Is 1 MP10 enough? Or am I better off going with an MP40 or two MP10s

3. Is the Tunze 3152 a big enough ATO? Or is the 3155 needed

4. I've heard the Tunzeo 9004 skimmer fits in one of the outside chambers - that means I will lose one of those two for chemical/mechanical filtration. Is this a big deal in most people's experience?

5. Is it even worth running a reactor?

I Really want a nice, clean looking setup and don't want to have a bunch of things sticking out the back if I can avoid it.

thanks for the input - it's much appreciated

I tried one led fixture but ended up with the x30 G3 pro. You need to realize this is a powerful light and need to run it at 35 to 45 % intensity. But it gives a better over all coverage.

I have two mp 10's mp 40 would be way to much.

The 3152 gives u one sensor while the 3155 gives you a high level warning and top off protection.

The 9004 fits in the overflow chamber
I also use a Santa Monica drop 1.2 algae scrubber

1) The light, I'm not sure as I run a Kessil 360. I would say the x30 is probably a little to powerful as I'd run it at 50% maybe maximum but it covers more of the tank.

2) I run one mp10wes. It works wonders. I did have one dead spot in my tank so I actually set up a small Koralia in the left hand corner to cover it. It wasn't to bad but it was just something I noticed with observation. I don't plan on running SPS in this tank so 1 is fine with my softies/LPS. That said, I wouldn't see a problem at all running two mp10wes. If this was my only tank, I'd have two in it already.

3) I use the 3152. If I had to do it again, I'd probably get the 3155 (which is still a possiblity, I like the 2 sensor option. If you got the money, get that one). I'm still pleased with the nano though, don't get me wrong.

4) I run the Tunze 9004 skimmer. I love it. Its in my left outer chamber or chamber 1 pending on how you look at it. Not a big deal. My custom caddy I keep in chamber 5 (or the outer right chamber) has my floss, purigen and chemipure elite. Its all good. Only issue I used to have was nitrates (because I added my fish to quickly one after another instead of patience) but now its sitting at a nice 5ppm. Not to bad with my bioload and feeding schedule (I feed 2-3 times daily)

5) I do run a reactor as well. IM desktop version? I think thats the name of the middle sized one. Anyways because of my feeding and bioload, I figured to add one with Biopellets. Again, this has worked wonders at keeping my nitrate lvls stable and on the lower end which is acceptable to me.

On that note I still have chamber 4 open but I'm thinking of adding a refugium there as well. Santa Monica Algae scrubber 1.2 is a possibility. A guy I follow on youtube is keeping me updated. Maybe even a second reactor. My tank is only 7 months old so still leaving it open until I decide what to use it for.

Haha, didn't realize you answered. Yeah I'd agree with everything you stated. I was guessing maybe 50% power maximum on that light as I've seen it in action at a LFS.

Another question bud. How are you liking the Santa Monica drop 1.2 algae scrubber? I'm really considering adding it into chamber 4. I'm just not sure yet. Thanks.

Depends on what you are trying to grow, I am happy with my radion x30. The x15 may be to small for the tank, unless you are going to have only LPS.

2. Is 1 MP10 enough? Or am I better off going with an MP40 or two MP10s
Kind of the same thing as above, depends on what you are trying to grow. If you are going to have LPS, then 1 mp10...If SPS then probably 2, so you can have much more flow. If you are going to have a mix reef, then 2 would also be a great option. Right now, I personally do not have either Mp, however I am looking to get them asap. I have been running a RW4 and a coraline with the spin stream nozzels with for over a year with good results.
3. Is the Tunze 3152 a big enough ATO? Or is the 3155 needed
I've only used the 3152, and I like it. It is not too fancy and serves its purpose.

4. I've heard the Tunzeo 9004 skimmer fits in one of the outside chambers - that means I will lose one of those two for chemical/mechanical filtration. Is this a big deal in most people's experience?
I run the ghost skimmer, and I personally like it once its all dialed in.
5. Is it even worth running a reactor?
I do not run a reactor, I dose two part...its much easier for me to dump two cap fulls of A and B lol

I Really want a nice, clean looking setup and don't want to have a bunch of things sticking out the back if I can avoid it.
I love the clean look of the tank, gives it a modern style. My radions hang from above, and all of my cords are tucked away in the back. Also, having all of the cords black helps. My ghost skimmer stays at level with the tank and does not stick out.

I'm still waiting on my new Nuvo 40 Black tank. Marine Depot is shipping another out today after contacting them again. Since this will be the third weekend I can't get started on my build, I am so disappointed. IM never got back with me, but worked with MD, instead. Why would someone assemble a tank with broken glass to begin with? Crazy! Hope the next one is nice.

I am enjoying reading all the equipment lists and aquascaping ideas in this thread. I'll post some photos when I get my build going.

anyone using the fishguard? i read 2 reviews on amazon, 1 loved it w/no complaints, the other said it prevents proper surface skimming

http://www.marinedepot.com/Innovati...iums-Innovative_Marine-0I05109-FIAQAA-vi.html

Nope, most of my fishes wouldn't even swim on the surface. Unless, I am walking by with food lol.

Plus they are way to fat to fit between the overflows.

Btw check out my Journal guys!

recently ordered my Nuvo 40. upgrading from a Nuvo fusion 20. I already have a Hydra 52 HD and an MP10 i will be using with the tank. Now I am looking over my skimmer options which I see is mainly either the Tunze 9004 or IM Ghost Mid. Has anyone here used both and can give suggestions on which skimmer to use? Has anyone here used a Reef Octopus? I dont want to make any modifications to the skimmer, if that helps with the suggestions.
