Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

I've had the ghost skimmer without any issues. Just need to be adjusted and it works well for me

Had the ghost for a while didn't like it and was very noisy pretty sure that was the main reason i didn't like it. Using the smallest Eshopp's nano skimmer and modded the air intake to adjust water level which they should include since all you need is a air valve. These small tanks are tuff since anything larger you can really strip the water to clean.

Yea that's what I've heard. I do not hear anything on my tank except the radion fan since its at 100% lol.

Once it was dialed in, it started producing nice skimmate.
If you need help setting it up, Please let me know! It can be struggling at times

I have 2 Sicce 2.0 pumps and want to know what you feel. Is it worth changing out the stock pump? Does it provide more flow/turnover regardless of the specs of each pump you feel??

running:
Return: stock
Skimmer: tunze 9004
Reactor: BRS deluxe reactor
Powerhead: RW-4 with aqualink & WP-10
refugium: Cheato/live rock
LED: Ocean revive T247 10" above water

Sorry for the late response - I would swap out the stock pump and keep it as a backup. The Sicce 2.0 runs well, it is quiet and I think I need to find a slightly less restrictive plumbing setup to get the flow issue resolved. That said it is about the same (and only slightly less) than the stock pump and I sleep better at night. The downside is I have not cleaned the pump in the 6 months it has been running. It was so hard to get in there that I am dreading trying to get it out and clean it.

Also, I tested out an eheim pump and it actually had even less flow. Trying to recall the exact number but it is one a few IM40 users listed in this thread. I ended up trading it with Reduck (also from this thread) for the Sicce.

Hope this helps.

looks good. I just saw you're in the Apopka-Orlando area. I just recently moved up here. Closest LFS to me is WWC. My only concern for the Ghost skimmer is the reported noise from it. Do you know if the 9004 needs to be modified in anyway for it to work properly? I see people putting it in either Chamber 1 or 5.

I've got the 9004 running in the 5th chamber without any modifications. Works great.

Oh ok, I'm actually on the other side...about 30-45 from WWC. As for the ghost noise, I honestly can't hear anything. I think I fixed it by attacking a 4-5' airline tube from the air valve to the inside of the cabinet. That airline helps the "sucking" noise travel. My radions are probably the loudest thing I got in the tank.

Hey all, I recently broke down my 90g tank and set this tank up in my dining room hopes of getting me hooked on the hobby again. So far so good.

I have an old d120 over the tank, that's always worked for me.
I had the aquamaxx hob-1, but my wife got me the ghost skimmer for fathers day and Im using it now. It looks way better than the aquamaxx and much more quiet. Im happy so far.

I can't decide what powerhead to use. I have some wp40's but they are wayyyyyy too powerful.

I guess options are Jebao rw-4 or 8's (not sure of 1 or two), jebao cp-25, maxspect gyre xf130, or 2 mp10's, although I'd rather not spend $500 for them...

Any suggestions? I looked through this thread and it seems like everyone is using mp10's....

anyone using the fishguard? i read 2 reviews on amazon, 1 loved it w/no complaints, the other said it prevents proper surface skimming

http://www.marinedepot.com/Innovati...iums-Innovative_Marine-0I05109-FIAQAA-vi.html

Now the only reason I have them is because I added a pair of clownfish fry. They were definitely small enough to fit into the overflow. They still are at this time being. But I love them. If you have small livestock or critters of sorts, it's worth it. But the moment my clownfish are big enough, I will take them out.

My surface skimming is just fine. Thought I'd mention that. I keep my nitrates below 10 with 2-3 feedings daily and 5 fish (had 6 but lost my first SW fish the other day due to my YWG catching a disease...sigh, happens in this hobby)

Hey bud. Yeah I run 1 mp10 and a koralia in the corner for movement in one dead spot. I guess it really depends on your coral. I run a softy/LPS tank. In all reality the one mp10 is strong enough for those. Well it is for my needs. My buddy runs a gyre and it's definitely enough for his SPS tank but he doesn't have much rock work in his so the flow literally is everywheres.

Just ordered Nuvo 40 Gallon

Just ordered Nuvo 40 Gallon

Any suggestions for skimmer? I see a lot of people using the Ghost or Tunze, this is my first SW setup. I don't mind the noise, my question is which one performs better?

I've been reading the threads for a few hours and noticed that if I do go with the Tunze, I would lose a chamber that could potentially be used as a fuge? Is that right? I am super new to SW setups.

I could use some advice, heres what I have already:
IM 40 Fusion (still awaiting shipment)
T247 Ocean Revive LED light
Koralia Nano 240 power head
20lbs live sand caribia arag sand
16.6 lbs live rock from LFS
Skimmer: Need advice on either HOB skimmer or something that will fit inside (ghost or Tunze); If I go HOB will it be better and will it take up alot of space or look bad?
ATO: Never had one of these before, whats a good one for this setup?
Baskets: Are the baskets that come with the tank any good for setting up a refugim?
Filtration: Any ideas on what to put in the back of the pump? Would live rock and filter floss be fine? WOuld adding a refugium be the best idea?

Sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure I am getting everything in line for my new tank.

Also, I started out with a 20 gal standard glass tank aquarium, and will be moving a cycling tank (its about 2 weeks old), will this be a problem? I have a canister filter on this tank and the power head/light I listed above and have seen alot of algae booms. I am using well water but have purchased an RO/DI system that is on its way. Any tips to help?
