Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

I actually flipped my 9004 the other way, so the magnet is between chambers 3/4. I realized when the magnet was facing outside the tank, it wouldn't hold well. It skims great, It's not super thick but after it breaks in from the super wet skims, i get dark lightly thick skims every 3 days

I get a wet skim sometimes as well but usually thick sludge in the nick of the skimmer.

So glad I found this useful information. My 29 Biocube recently crapped out on me and leaked as of Monday 12/12/16. I quickly had to replace the tank and opted for this Nuvo 40. I had trouble getting the stand shipped with the tank but the tank will send this Friday- I already received my tank yesterday- Thank goodness.

Having owned this 40 fusion for a few years now thinking its out dated in some aspects specifically the over flow sock setup. Been i'm eyeing up the new cobalt aquatics c-view tanks really like the back over flows (not lower sumps) and having the ability to use a round filter sock which the 40 fusion unfortunately only option is square box plastic socks. I've always turned them inside out when put into the washer which they get damaged and start to rip. Only way to make the last longer when washing is not to turn them inside out but they don't get as clean imo. Like the looks of the cobalt aquatics c-view round sock holders similar to some of the redsea's smaller tanks that don't have sumps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXMkguhEFmY

Thinking of replacing the stock return pump to the hopefully quieter Sicce Syncra. What I have noticed is the dimensional footprint for the 2.0 and the 3.0 is the same. Can I not just go with the 3.0 and dial back the flow if need be? I would appreciate any feedback from people that have made the switch to the Syncra. Thanks!

did this but ended up going dc pump to remove some heat which it did. Forget the model number but it was a jebaco pump. IMO all these small aio tanks should could with dc pump these days they are quieter too.

What do you guys think about my aquascape? Does it look somewhat unnatural? Im planning to rescape it by next next march. 😓

I think it looks good. Would you mind getting a photo of how you mounted your light? It looks like you have a kessil. I just got this tank and I have a kessil- just seems like the kessil will be floppy on this tank.

Great looking tanks everyone!

This thread has made my decision on getting the nuvo 40 pretty easy.

Just one question...what light should I get?

I have always used the ebay full spectrum led because they bang for the buck is great. But I really want to keep this build sleak. I like the AI prime Hd for this reason. But it's a lot more expensive and may not be enough light for this tank. Are there any other option around the $200 or under range that would work? Or should I just go for the reef breeders type led?

I got a nice deal on the Radion X30 for around 200...I use to have the eBay led light. But I like the ability to customize the light for my specific taste.

Hey guys, been thinking about picking up an IM40 or a BC32. Does anyone have any ideas for a pre-made stand available beside the IM stand? Thanks!

I went to the habitat for humanity store and found a base cabinet for $45. Then went to a speciality lumber store and picked up a piece of African hardwood. Put on three coats of sealer and two years later everything looks great.

You're welcome! I'm not home or I'd share a pic. For additional support in the corners, I had Home Depot cut 4x4's to size and shimmed them where needed. Just for peace of mind. Happy hunting!

I was looking for a stand too. Really couldn't find much in the 24"x20" size. I found this at officedepot.com. It's 32" wide so a bit long and it's 1/2" short on depth so a shelf or board would need to be added across the back (probably won't hurt for stability either) to get to 20". Maybe a center brace too. Still not a bad deal.

A "B24" - which is a standard base kitchen or bathroom cabinet works perfectly. IF that is the look that is appropriate for you and if you find one sturdy enough. Older kitchen cabinets work great because, well they just don't make stuff today like they used to.

So true. And this is why so many built there own stands.

Another option is to use the JBJ stand. I don't think it's as nice but is the same size and should do the job.

Hey Thunder, I see you have a fan on the tank. Do you run it often? I'm setting up a tank with pretty much the same equipment and wondering if heat will be an issue.
