Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

I am thinking of ordering a 40 for my next tank. What is everyone using for filtration? Are you using the factory filter socks or are you using the media baskets from in tank? I currently have a 28 gallon nano cube with the in tank media basket and I like that set up. Thinking of going the same route in the 40 depending on what luck everyone else has with them

I'm doing a filter sock on one side and a media basket on the other. I am also going to do a macroalgae reactor and I have the Innovative Marine minimax media reactor that I am running a mix of carbon and gfo in it. I am also going to put some marine pure (from bulk reef supply's web site) in the back somewhere to add some additional biological filtration.

Guys is it okay that my light is hitting the rear sump? I mean i dont want any algae growth in my sump. i raised my kessils from 5in(doesntreach the rear) to 8inches

Looking to downgrading my 75 to this nuvo40
Looking for skimmer options. Read they this thread and saw that mostly everyone is running the 9004. Is anyone running the new 9004 with D.C. Pump.
Currently running a bubble king mini 160 which is a beast. Would love to run something just as good but smaller size for this set up
Also I currently run marine pure media blocks. Anyone running these in the back chambers. Maybe in middle bottom areas

My plan is to transfer as much coral and rock from current setup. Will also use one of my hydra 52hd and sell the second one. Also will run both mp40s or maybe sell one down the line. Will continue to use my smart ato micro and apex.
Thanks in advance

Just set up my nuvo 40. It was a transfer from a 75. I'm very pleased. I put as much rock and coral as I could fit.
Current set up
Skimmer: Tunze 9004 DC
Flow: MP 40
ATO:Smart ATO Micro
Controller: Apex
Dosing: Apex Dos
Filtration: intank Filter floss holder and marine pure blocks all on bottom chambers and have cpr mini reactor with gfo. Carbon in media bag

I have a issue with the return pump. It's loud. Is this normal. Anyone else experience this and have any tips.
Thanks. Will post pic later today of my set up

can someone please explain the details of how the Tunze 9004 fits inside the IM 40? Does it require modifying the tank or skimmer....I just bought an IM 40 and was going to get the Ghost because it looked easier, but if the 9004 fits without a hassle, I'll buy one. Is the Ghost acceptable?

Also, is the stock pump a MUST replace? If so, Eheim or the Sicce? I think I read that maybe the Sicce was easier to remove to clean, etc? Is what comes in the box for the Sicce everything I need to swap out the pumps? I'm not exactly a DIY plumber.

Exactly my predicament. The 9004 fits sideways in the media basket chamber and since it will be mounted sideways and not facing the overflow im convinced that it will not be efficient in skimming. Thats why i bought the aquamaxx hob1 instead (on sale right now btw). And for the return pump i upgraded mine with the eheim compaq +2000 very quiet.
