The light should be here today. Now I have to try to get my hands behind the tank to cut the black backing. I wish I would've thought about doing this before setting up the tank!! LOL

Getting most, Im sure i will find a few don'ts too.... An remember after the fact that I should have done this or that... Just laugh with me during the build... Can't wait to get started...

Got my hand behind the tank. It was easy to cut and peel off the black backing. Got the IM MagnaFuge light and hopefully I'll be able to get some chaeto and pods on Sunday.

I peeled off just enough to uncover the left side custom Caddy. On the right side I plan on using chemipure and purigen.

As far as getting behind it to take pictures... this is the best I could do. LOL. Sorry.

Friend or foe? This morning I tried to get a photo of the chaeto and fuge light and I see THIS... is it what I think it is? If so what's the best course of action to get rid of it? Should I just dump the chaeto and start over? I just added the chaeto to one of my custom caddy's and 2 bottles of pods yesterday.

Bad news...dump it. And yes its an aiptasia. Better safe than sorry. Chaeto is cheap.

Ghost is in!!! I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about. The microbubbles are just about nonexistent and it's already skimming. I just put a small piece of filter pad between the skimmer and the pump chamber to be safe. Without it...the bubbles were so minimal. I love it...dropped right in and is already doing it's job.

Caddy is also in with some phosphate media and chemi pure.

Also got a sick deal on a bleeding Apple Scoly...couldnt pass it up. Looking fat and happy.

I dumped it. Didn't want to take a chance. Bought a new batch of chaeto and checked it THOROUGHLY before putting it into the tank. Gotta get more pods now.

No microbubbles for me either with the ghost skimmer. My only real complaint is I have the cup up about as far as I dare to set it and it still skims pretty wet. I don't know if I just have the water level too high in the back chambers or what. I'm having to dump some light tea colored water every couple days so far.

The neck does get somewhat gunky in that time though.

Comparing this skimmer with my old Bubble Magus QQ2 HOB, the latter does a better job at pulling out really dark skimmate
