Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

Anyone has any good recommendation for setting up a refugium at the back chambers? Chaeto stuffed into media racks suffers from poor water flow as the flow is badly blocked by the filter sponge at the top rack. I was thinking of replacing it with the IM filter socks plus a DIY acrylic refugium chamber submerged underneath of tbe socks with a submersible LED light strip

For anyone interested in keeping SPS or considering an ULNS the IM reactor works really well with the zeovit system. It's very effective at lowering nutrients to keep sensitive corals and improve color.

Can you explain this more in depth please? I've never heard of this system. Right now I have phosban in my reactor.

Thanks.

Martin there is a great video on MD about using first chamber, custom caddy and even IM sales a magnetic led too. I was debating this one myself.

Zeovit is a nutrient control method. It's very effective at removing nitrate and phosphate to undetectable levels. There are four basic supplements to lower nutrients and a few to tweak colors to really pop if you want.

I've done quite a few Reef tanks and this is the first time I've used the system. I have to say I've been really pleased with the results thus far. It's been relatively easy to maintain water quality where that has always been a challenge in the past.

Basically instead of GFO you would put zeovit rocks in the reactor. You also dose a specific Bacteria, and bacterial food. It honestly has not been that involved where I anticipated it would be.

I know I've read many people with this tank that have struggled to control nitrates and phosphates. Since setting up the tank I've never registered more than zero and all the Acropora are doing very well. I just wanted to share my experience since I've found it to be very effective and addresses some of the limitations of an AIO like the nuvo.

Here are a few more recent pictures. The tank is just over 8 weeks old now.

Last bit of a new tank algae bloom. Caddy is on its way and corals are adjusting. Loving this tank.

Thanks a lot for the response and explanation. I need to read up on this system more. Sounds very interesting. Is the mini max reactor a sufficient t run this system?

Ghost skimmer and caddy on their way. [emoji16]

I too may run a zeo system in a reactor. Had success in the past with it and it's close to a natural progression with nutrient export. Good info on that...

Yeah, I was surprised at how well the IM reactor worked for this application. For a tank the size of the nuvo, Zeovit calls for .3L of stones and the IM holds .35L if I remember correctly.

Many don't like zeovit because they don't disclose the ingredients but you should look through some of the tanks that run the system. I decided to try because the results and pictures of the tanks really speak for themselves.

How is the mid size Ghost skimmer for our 40g nuvo?
I'm trying to decide on a skimmer but I see the reviews not so great on the mid Ghost skimmer with issues of micro bubbles.

The zeovit tanks look amazing. The colors are incredible. I know nothing about this system. I need to do a lot more research before I try something like this.

Every skimmer I've ever owned has had some kind of issue. There are pros and cons to all of them. I personally went with the ghost. Haven't got it in the mail yet but will post my findings. I went this way because the other skimmer that fits is the tunze and it only will fit in the first chamber. This doesn't suit my wants and needs.

Most of the complaints are about a long break in period. Once past that it performs well. I'm accustomed to doing modifications and adjustments on skimmers so I'm willing to take the chance on this one based on design and fit.

I guess we will see.

taat2d, I was explore using the CC for fuge, on MD they have great video about some hacks, and this is on. They use a led light with magnet and peel a small section of black off the back.

Thank you very much!!! Just got done watching it. I just have to peel some of that sticker back and I'm all set. Ordered the light from BRS.
