Bring in a bare LR, leave with it all fragged up! This one rock has nothing but some kenya tree and coralline growing on it..needs more color..

Wow! I might have to put you in the lazy category on that one :) ) i have a little ocd when it comes to this stuff so I have to do everything myself

I normally would do it, but he offered...and I took him up on it...seems like a no brainier really when you think about it. I pick the corals, he glues them up, it's back in my tank in an hour..
But, yes, I am lazy too... 😄

Lazy and smart often times are the same!

Water change complete and reactor is out...It will be staying out..Like the clean look. Will be putting it up in the classifieds..figured if i need to run gfo, just put it in a filter bag..

Use chempure or Phosban instead. Gfo needs to tumble to work efficiently.

Spent an hour there cutting and glueing. Rock was back in the tank before it dried out. It's all acclimating now. Still need to move my mp's and finish the doser setup. I'll post before and after pics when the lights come up tomorrow.
It was a lot less painful than I expected. I didn't even need to add water or rock. Still had enough level to leave the main pump running while I was gone!
Ok, it was painful. The OC bit me about 3 times when I put the rock back....

I run chemipure blue on one side.. Meant to say phosguard. I get a chuckle every time I read this live rock makeover. Don't know if I am jealous or just jealous..haven't figured it out yet ;)

What frags did he glue on?

DIY Stand

DIY Stand

hey guys Just wanted to show you what I built today.

I framed it using the plans in the DIY thread. I wreapper it in 1/2 inch maple plywood. It's 28" high by 26" wide by 22". Tomorrow I'm going to add hinges and have the whole front swing out so I have storage underneath. I cut openings in the back for cables and accessories. I play to stain it black and put a few coats of poly for water resistance.

Zoas, shrooms, and palys..still waiting for the lights to come up.
Hate the start of F1 season. Getting up at midnight to watch a race..walking dead the next day..

That came out nice!

I am setting up my tank in the next week or two. I'm am going back and forth between a single Kessil 160 blue tune and the 360. I'm curious if anyone has opinions on one v. the other. Is the 360 overkill? Is it better to go with the wide angle or the narrow focused one for the 360?

I looked at these a lot when researching lighting. I love the color of the kessils. I had set my sights on the 360. It's not overkill. You can dim it to what's needed easily, with the 160 you can as well but once you reach the top, that's it.
Also look at Larusso designs mounts. They are beautiful!

Only reason I went with the Radion was the mounting options for canopies. I intend on building one shortly and the radion just fits and functions better in a short canopy.

Good luck with your startup and welcome to the addiction!

Along with Reduck, I also went the Radion. I went with the XR15w Pro version and I haven't looked back since!
I was going to go way overkill by using 2 24" Reefbreeders Photon lights!
LFS Talked me into getting this Radion and I haven't looked back since. Control ability and everything is just insane.

Here's a shot of my Fusion 40 with the XR15

A before and after for the rock makeover. Some of the palys on top haven't opened yet...need to get used to the light and flow up there..please ignore the diatoms on the sandbed,,,.i am..

Gosh Reduck, those diatoms!!! Get it together. Jk jk :D

Looks good! That's going to look so cool when it's covered in Zoas!

Looks good. How are you going to hang your lights? I have seen a couple builds that they put brackets on the back of the stand and run a pole up..Looks clean...kept of the good work.

Looking good...I like. Ha, I could imagine you are tired. When I was in Abu Dhabi, I went over to Yes Island and got to see the track over there...Amazing how it goes through the hotel.

Well, I am taking steps backwards.. After I did a water change yesterday, my flame hid in the rocks and never came out...I did a night feeding and he came out and ate. This morning I pulled him from the rocks :sad2: I have had him for almost a year..so it is a light bummer..no clue what is going on.

I pulled the reactor and I put in some live rock rubble in there and its flowing nicely..I am just going to sit for a month or so and see what is going on. I feel that the Kalk sitting in the tank for that long still has those lasting effects and still seeing it.

Sorry. Thats tough. I would think if there was kalk residue, you'd see it in your tests. High ph. High alk. Etc. did you wash the ato container well? I rinsed the crap out of mine when I stopped. There was a lot of residue on the bottom but I got it all out.

Yaz Marina is the prettiest circuit next to Monaco imo. Lucky you got to see it in person. It's on my bucket list! Someday, someday...

Just fed my tank...now to clean up the mess I made...

Just moved my MPs. Put them 6" from top, 6" from front and opposite side 6" from back. Played with the settings and left the slave in anti sync. It's got a nice gyre effect! I like it!!
Lots of surface movement too! I'll get some pics next time lights are up. Hopefully it doesn't blow water over the edge at peak reef crest...hmmm..better run it at 100% to check that!

Nice! That is how I have them set up as well... I have crest topping out at 75 I think. I like the gyre effect as well.

I am confused as well...I cleaned out the ato really well, levels seem good. I am just going to wait until I get back from our trip to add anything. I am just going to do water changes and do the normal maintenance.

Yaz..I knew I spelled it wrong. Yep, it was beautiful and so was Dubai, it is worth the trip!

I like this pump placement a lot. Ran at constant 100% with no splashing. Had to do something as I was getting a lot of sand movement.

Have you tried other test kits? Just as a backup? I'm using both Hanna and liquid kits. Sometimes I do two tests just for peace of mind. Especially nitrate and ammonia. I probably wouldn't do it so many times if I tested more often. I test for po, alk, cal, no, and nh these days and that's once a month.. Check salinity when I do wc. it's been quite stable. I'll be testing more as I get the doser up.

Didn't get to finish the doser setup today, too groggy. I made 30g of rodi with intention of mixing up the two part, but wasn't awake enough to mix it. Picked up an eshopps airline hanger and silicon tubing so I have everything ready. Test fit the doser and container and it will all fit in the lower compartment. Also thinking I may put the doser on its own shelf (diy) above the top shelf. There is a lot of wasted space up there.

Yippie almost bed time!
