Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

While I'm at it should I upgrade with the new Quiet Drive Vortechs too?

Absolutely! I have two drives on order.. So just waiting. People have said the qd's in the 40s are amazing, so the 10s should be good. I bought a new mp10w es for 195 and upgrade driver puts me at 245.. So saves me about 40 just buying a new qd. Though what sucks is that we are still waiting for the upgraded drivers.

Hello everyone :) Love all the setups, great job ;)
I am new to salt water setups, been doing freshwater breeding since i was a kid. I finally got the guts to try saltwater. I just got the cycling going, seems to be doing good.

Tank: IM Nuvo Fusion 40
Stand: Custom
Power head: Vortech MP10w (adding one more soon)
Lighting: Orbit Marine LED Pro (upgrading soon to Kessil or Radeon)
Controller: In the market, looking at apex
Skimmer: Not sure if i want one, got very mixed reviews
Auto Top Off: Tunze Osmolator 3155
Heater: Eheim Jäger 150w
40 pounds live rock
30 pounds live sand

If you guys have any suggestions on a new led, please let me know, thanks.

Welcome...once you go saltwater you never go back :)

Tank: IM Nuvo Fusion 40
Stand: Custom
Power head: Vortech MP10w (adding one more soon) excellent
Lighting: Orbit Marine LED Pro (upgrading soon to Kessil or Radeon) I love my radions..but people also love their kessil, cant go wrong here
Controller: In the market, looking at apex can't go wrong here..get full apex
Skimmer: Not sure if i want one, got very mixed reviews if you want coral or have a heavy bio load, i suggest you get one..makes life easier and keep water clean
Auto Top Off: Tunze Osmolator 3155 love mine
Heater: Eheim Jäger 150w excellent
40 pounds live rock
30 pounds live sand

make sure you get some solid test kits..API are not the best for saltwater so i encourage you to do some research here if you haven't already.. The hardest part about saltwater is leaving the cycle alone.

as stated, you have a great start. The LED will come down to your choice in color really. Both are excellent and I'd give the Kessil the lead in a cleaner color blend. Radion has better controlling sw both with apex and reeflink. I have not seen or tried the new kessil apps so they may have caught up by now.

It all depends on your end game or how you want to view your tank. You can't go wrong with either of your choices IMO. It will be up to your eyes and wallet to make the decision.

good luck!

can you get by with the reeflink for the radion and vortechs without an Apex?

You can, but from my research the connection is a little iffy and you have to spend $100 to control lights and pumps.. save the money for the apex and just plug in your computer to the lights

Thanks for the advise guys :) I am researching like crazy, i have already come to find out I will never know everything, lol. What test kits do you guys prefer? I was looking into Salifert Test Kits, or Red Sea. Thanks for the help ;)

Joys of saltwater....you will never everything. Those are great test kits. I use Red Sea and Hanna. But salifert is great as well

I am going to get the Hanna setup after I get all the test kits I will need. I have read a lot that said I should have 2 ways to test.

Red sea, salifert and Hanna here. I use the Hanna's mostly. After a while you trust your instincts...I can tell by looking at my glass if my po is up. And all I do is test po, alk and calcium these days. Once in a while I'll do a nitrate test. I have minimal livestock so the odds of spiking nitrates is low...water changes are the key. Set a schedule and stick to it...

To learn I figure I should test on a regular basis until I know my tank and what im doing. I did set up a log and schedule on my pc, i think that will help a lot. Doing my first water change this Friday, been 2 weeks.
This is so exiting, thanks again gents for all your help and making a great community :)

Just buy an apex has a log built in :)

absolutely. I used to test twice a week through start up and cycling. You will eventually be comfortable enough to skip some testing. There are some apps you can purchase to help set up schedules, but a simple calendar works too.
Just don't give up if things turn for the worse. New tank syndrome strikes us all as do other nasties...work through it and reap the rewards..

Hey peoples... I just got a new Fusion 40, I am upgrading from a Edge 12g that I converted to salt. I am hooked...
Any way I have a couple of questions,

Any recommendations on replacement pump for original sump pump?
Any feedback on the Jebao RW-4...
I also got the AI 26, anyone using this light?

Here is what I have so far:
IM 40
IM Stand
IM Spinstreams
IM Desktop Reactor (ROWAphos)
Tunze 9004 skimmer
AI Hydra 26
Aquamedic ATO
Eheim Jager 150w

Still a work in progress, If you have any suggestions, I am all ears...

I think biz and I both have the eheim 2000+ in our sumps. Much better than stock. Can't comment on the jebao or the ai.
Welcome to our addiction!
