Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

Welcome....I loved my edge6, I converted the lighting saddle so it would take LED and i enjoyed it for a long time.

Here is what I have so far:
IM 40
IM Stand
IM Spinstreams Return them, burn them do whatever to them except put them in your tank :). I had them on a IM16. They will get stuck, if a snail gets on them, they will get stuck. For the 16 and smaller they are ok because they can do the job of a little pump. Since you are going to have pumps in there. you dont need them.
IM Desktop Reactor (ROWAphos)you will need midsize, but maybe desktop would work?
Tunze 9004 skimmergood choice
AI Hydra 26 I am bias to radion, but hear its solid
Aquamedic ATO I am bias to tunze, but anything beats manual
Eheim Jager 150w solid

As Reduck said, I do have the 2000+ in there which is a great size return pump

Enjoy the tank.. I love mine and really love just looking at it at night!

Welcome and if you have any questions ask

Still laughing about the spinstreams! I had the hydorflo in my 12. It sounded like a broken gearbox turning all the time. I actually have two brand new in the box I should sell. They do work well in smaller tanks and it's quite humorous to watch snails ride them..

Back to the reactor. Don't know the volume of rowaphos you'd need for the 40 but I'm running a full cup of phosguard in my mid size. There is a lot of room to spare. Might be able to get away with it for a while. If you start running GFO though it'll be tight. I was mixing gfo with carbon for a while and that puppy (mid size) was full.

Anyhow, make it work for you till you need more volume. I know someone is selling a midsize in the classifieds....

Speaking of classifieds, I just put my media baskets up for grabs...

Sold! I donated it to a Canadian for $55 shipped.. hence the word donated

Wow. That's a steal...

Sure is..I figured he is still looking at snow up there, so just wanted to help him out:lmao:

I accidentally won a couple of things from WWC auction and accidentally ordered some things from their website. Real smart I tell you..right before I leave. Tank is stable though and everything is good, so I just need to see how my Ca and Alk adjust to the sps.. since they are frags, shouldnt be too crazy.

Hopefully they get there before you leave! Accidently. I need to use that excuse..

OK so I'm a noob....
Spinstreams go back and I am going to get the Eheim 2000+
I was told by the rep at Aquacave that all I need for that size tank is 50ml of GFO for that size tank and change every 2-3 months, depending on levels.
I am going to be looking to getting one of the IT media baskets, What should I put in it?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad I could bring a chuckle to your evening.

P.S. Where can I get the emoticons?

You know what they say.. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. Our daughter (2) is really getting into the fish, she feeds them and than sits with me when I working inside the stand.

The real highlight is, me explaining what to do when it comes tomorrow morning. I won't get home until 2, so telling her how to float them

Thought everyone might want to know that the premixed saltwater jugs from Nutri-Seawater fit perfectly in the 40 cabinet for ATO container, and they are 4.4 gallons.

We are all noobs, just on different levels of it!

Eheim 2000+ will give you more return than the stock which is nice. You will have to change out the gfo depending on your load and if the phosphates are under control. I use to switch out my gfo every two weeks. Everyone's tank is different. Same with filtration, everyone is different. I have the IM caddies, and I think Reduck is selling his. If you take the nutri-saltwater jug out of the cardboard, make sure you wrap the jug with duck tape, it is pretty flimsy..but great idea with the jug!

Emoticons are on the right side (computer) or down at the bottom if on a mobile.

What are you running for filtration? The included media from IM or something different?

Returning them is smarter than burning them, just not as fun!

Good idea with the premix jugs. Never thought about them. I used them with my 12 before I bought an rodi unit. I think when I first got my 40 I was using them up just to get rid of them. If I recall the ph was low and salinity was low. Had to adjust it before using it..

Anyhow the container I ended up buying for ato was like 12 bucks on Amazon. I have to fill it twice a week but it fits well.

I would def measure the phosphate in your tank soon to see if you even need the gfo. 50ml is next to nothing. I don't think it would have an effect on a higher po level for very long.
I was running almost a full cup of gfo when my po was at .07 and had to change it twice a week to get to .03. I'm currently running 1 cup of phosguard and changing it twice a week now just to maintain that level and help with my sandbed bloom.

If any of you are interested in the caddys, pm me. I don't believe you can see the for sale section till you have 50 posts.

Been trying to figure out my layout in the back chambers. from front of tank, left to right.
Chamber 1 - media basket (not sure what to use)
Chamber 2 - Skimmer lines from hang on back. (AquaMaxx HOB-1) Also room for probes.
Chamber 3 - Pump, heater, ATO.
Chamber 4 - Innovative Marine Minimax reactor
Chamber 5 - Refugium / Floss
What do you guys think of the layout, and what would be my best choice for media in my media basket?

Chamber 1 - media basket (not sure what to use) I use the caddies from IM
Chamber 2 - Skimmer lines from hang on back. (AquaMaxx HOB-1) Also room for probes. Nice..People love that skimmer
Chamber 3 - Pump, heater, ATO. excellent, i have my heater all the way at the bottom and to the left underneath camber 4 and 5
Chamber 4 - Innovative Marine Minimax reactor What are you going to run? carbon?
Chamber 5 - Refugium / Floss same, i have the auqa gadget with chaeto

Yes I was thinking of running carbon in the reactor. So between the carbon and the refugium, im not to sure what other media to run in the basket in chamber 1.

Just really depends on what you are going to stock your tank with. I run carbon and chemipure blue with filter floss. On the other side I run poly fliter, chaeto... the second chamber I just have put in live rock rubble since I do not have much live rock in display. I took out my gfo reactor, if i see a spike in phosphates then I will put in phosguard.

Thanks so much for the info piecing it all together slowly. I will be stocking a mix of lps and soft coral. just gonna start with the easy ones first. A few inverts, and 2 fish im thinking. Still looking into livestock.

As of now, I am still putting everything together. My living room is like Christmas... more boxes than I can count (good thing the wife is away).

I would like some recommendations, especially since I only have one basket available, because of the Tunze.

Reduk... Please email me about the basket, I am interested if still available.

I would run carbon of some sorts just for water clarity. I like to double down with carbon by itself and chemipure blue.

I only need one because I have the Tunze skimmer. As fare as a fuge I haven't decided yet. I have to segregate space is available.
