Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

never had a pistol shrimp. Had a huge skunk shrimp that I rehomed due to over aggressive behavior and still have two peppermint shrimp. I am hoping to replace the harlequin I lost to the skunk soon. They are a spectacular species. A little difficult (if you are squeamish) to feed, but very entertaining to watch..

I'll replace the goby once I build a canopy. My last diamond squirted out through the screen top a couple months ago..

I put my pistol and goby in last night. The pistol went right to work under the rock I put in the middle just for him. The Goby has been all over the place not hanging out with the shrimp yet. The pistol is awesome to watch though

Well..it is a sad day at bizacon's house. We returned from dinner and my firefish was waiting for our return. Problem was, he was waiting on top of the screen. I have now had 3 firefish successfully jump out of my tank even with that screen on... Think I am done with firefis

I know Reduck with yell at me, but I am going to keep my dosers running while I am gone. I am going to have people at the house while I am gone, plus I will have the control with my Apex.. Reduck..it will be ok :)

sorry for the loss. I think that screen needs some modding. I've lost a few to it as well. Its a shame since it allows a lot of light to pass through, but at the cost of fish.

I'm not going to yell at you for running the doser since I know you programmed safeguards, and email alerts, and you tested them all and they work perfectly.

I would, however, yell at you if you didn't.

Enjoy your trip!

They will meet up eventually and form a relationship my YWG and pistol shrimp sometimes go through a separation phase where they don't hang out together.

It's odd that your goby jumped. I have not had a top on my 10g since day one over 3 years ago and have never had a jumper [emoji6] (knock on wood)

I almost bought a harlequin yesterday...So close. I was thinking of just freezing a chocolate star and just cutting a leg and feeding each week.

Such a cool species..

I think you are lucky. Seems like its a pretty common issue with gobies..
Mine was pretty large too, yet he still squeezed through the netting. Our youngest Beagle found it in the morning. I'm still amazed he didn't eat it..

I need to get to work on drawing up canopy plans.....

I had a glass place make me a thin piece of glass the same size as the screen

Taco Bell.

Actually depends on how tight it fits. I doubt the sump is covered. That would allow some air exchange. And gas escape, and evaporation... My JBJ 30 rimless had glass top. It was fine. Breathing room...they don't seal them tight. I just prefer the open tops now...

Funny guys!! I personally wouldn't do the glass..even though the back is not covered it is not a large area. I have had a few glass tops that did not do well.

But if it's working for you, keep doing it!

I never liked the glass tops because of the build up of condensation and lack of gas exchange, and because your glass top is covered in condensation your lighting is affected not by much but it's still affected. Plus who doesn't like the topless look? [emoji6]

Well done sir...well done

I just didn't like the chance of me breaking the glass opening it to feed every day..I also never saw condensation form. It had a lot of breathing space and was in three pieces. Very thin safety glass. I saw much blood in my future if I kept that tank...

Like I said, I prefer the open top now. I like to hear the fish flipping out over feeding time. We need to find a new screen that's fish proof and transmits light efficiently. I'm up for the challenge. I'll do some research with my vendors at work. We do a lot of fabrication and those guys are good at stuff like this...

Any recommendations on a reactor for the back? Was looking at the IM midsized one but doesn't have the greatest reviews in terms of its pump or for GFO/Carbon

I have no issues with the IM midsized. I've used it for gfo, gfo and carbon, and now phosguard. Works just fine. Easy to maintain. Not ball valve flow control but it does what it needs to simply. Pump is quiet.

There are other mini reactors out there. Check inTanks web site. They specialize in cubes...
