Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

Well...... All I have to say is Greenwich Aquaria... My lfs

1. I walked in on their big sale :)... Like yumas $25 and firefish $5
2. Knowledgable staff
3. Quality fish and coral
4. Have wine, cookies and brownies
5. Couch in front of a large fish tank

"Honey, let's go to the fish store and you can sit on a couch and drink wine.."

The future is great!!!

Thought about it, but it's done. I have plenty of brs 2 part. Gallons actually.
Leaving it alone now..I considered doing a massive water change but now that the levels are acceptable, like I said...it will stabilize and I'll see what it measures tomorrow and how the coral looks later today. Right now the lights are just coming up on them.

From now on I'm doing tests on every wc mix. Live and learn...

I know he had some orange frogspawn last week...:spin3:
Looking for something that can be high on the rocks with a lot of movement. Frogspawn or Torch probably.

Yeah I've been bitten by the new salt mix also so I always test each new batch I get..
Imo when the tank is consuming alk/cal it's a good thing and not something to worry about.. It means it's working =).unless your magnesium is low I wouldn't worry about it and just set up a dosing pump on it since you already have the 2 part and enjoy your success .

Just received 2x spinstream's to try to get away from the powerhead in the tank look but have a feeling I won't be using them due to the noise they create.

Also for anyone wondering about upgrading the stock return pump the Jebao dc3000 also fits in the chamber and I will be using it. Don't think the base will fit but nothing a silicone mat won't fix. I test fit a skimmer version of it inside the chamber and it worked great. Only thing needed is to attach the output hose once the pump is already in place.

I'll update with pics once it's here and installed for sure but my dry run with the skimmer version (exact same body) worked perfectly. My original plan was to only use 2x spinstream heads and a stronger return pump for flow but that might not be quiet enough to be in my daughter's room.. We shall see.

Live and learn...good to know about the jebao pump fitting. It's tight back there.
Just ordered a new drum of Red Sea.

Dump the spinstreams just to quiet the teasing you'll get from biz!
Even some koralias would be better and quieter..

I actually walked out of ultimate with just some snails, but he's holding a purple tipped 3 head torch for me for next week. Didn't want to bring it home until 100% on the alk issue...

He has some massive rainbow torches too, but they are new, waiting to open...

Score! Nothing like a great lfs. We have one like that. It's so nice to go there and talk and see the tanks..they always have a great selection..Aquarium Care Center.
And yes, my wife likes it there too...cookies and other goodies, but no wine...

Nothing wrong with most of the cubes...I had a jbj. Just outgrew it...once you get into this hobby, upgrades happen. Unless you bail on the hobby. Every reefer I know started with one tank, and moved to another. It's just a matter of time.
Personally I love the look of this tank. I almost bought the 38 but when I saw this 40, it was all over.

I already have my eye on my next tank. but that won't happen till I retire and move, since I don't want to be moving a 100+g tank...it's either going to be an sr120 or cadlights 100g system.

Hopefully this tank keeps me happy for the 6 years till then...or I get one hell of a deal on Craigslist!

And to think I almost bought a biocube :uhoh3: im such a newb

Debating getting the Fusion 40, but I am curious. Is the Kessil 160WE enough to do a mixed reef in the 40 or would i need the A360?

Good call on the waiting until levels are stable... it would be a drag to have something die off. I have included a great Iphone 6 shoot of my garden...I like the look of it.

Also what is a good skimmer for this tank? That can fit inside or HOB, and is there a reactor that is good also that can fit in it?

There are a few skimmers, ghost, tunze, cadlights and aquamax, maybe more.
Some work better than others. And some fit better than others. Ghost for instance is low profile and hides well. Tunze will only fit in the end chambers. Aquamax is HOB, I Believe.

Reactors, again a few, IM, and a few other compacts fit well.
Just make sure it holds at least a cup, if you are planning gfo.

Good luck!

I know at least two reefers having good success with a single 360.
I'd do a radion personally...:eek1: but that's just me..

I didnt think the Kessil would work in the 30L just due to the increased length. Would figure on needing 2 with that

Yep the x30 is, but the x15 pro is only a little more. Very close in power output.
Don't get me wrong. I love the color output of the kessil, just like the controlling sw of the radion better.

Yea, well Id like to do radion, but its 2x the price of the 360

Wouldnt controlling the lights be roughly the same if using apex?

Not exactly the same control... WXM module will run the radion down to moonlights and up to max each separate color. With the kessil, there is intensity and color, and I don't believe they can dim to moonlight or run effects (if you are so inclined) kessil uses the 0-10v controller as opposed to infinite variability of the radion.
I actually think you'd have more flexibility using the kessil app over apex control for it.
At least that's what I saw when I was light shopping last fall.
