Owners Thread: Innovative Marine Fusion 40

Hey Bizacon
That is my 12 fluval Edge Salt. I got hooked with that one so I moved up.
I will be moving everyone from there into the 40 Eventually.

Hey everyone... I have finally finished setting up tank and filled with water, sand and rocks.
I used the CaribSea Fiji Pink and some live rock.
How long should I wait before adding inverts?
And correct me if I am wrong, but the skimmer doesn't get run during cycling.
I added a couple of pics to my album...

Oh and by the way I took everyone's advice and returned the IM desktop reactor for the mid size.

nice! Please wait until tank has cycled completely before adding any livestock.
And yes, start skimming, you won't be picking up much yuk yet, but it will aid in breaking it in and reducing microbubbles later. Set it high up and light bubbling.
Good luck with the start up!

My flame was as happy as he could be. Got him small and he loved swimming and eating. I am the reverse, I love the fish.. love how they swim and will drop a couple pennies on them. When I return, I have been eye balling a couple of snow flake clowns.

yea, but once he would grow, you'd have to a)rehome him b)buy a bigger tank.
I've rehomed a few critters already. Not fun catching them at all. Who knew shrimp and crabs could swim so fast?

I looked at snowflakes too but since I already have OCs I am not mixing clowns ever again. We had a saddleback that grew super fast. She was a tank bully. She had to go...now its peaceful again. I'll probably get a blenny or another watchman eventually...

Happened again..........Need to get this computer checked out..accidentally won some of the ebay auction from wwc:D

I think you're infecting us with whatever is going on with your computer. Craziest thing just happened - I checked my e-mail and saw an order confirmation from TB Aquatics for an Apex and MP10. Accidental, of course...

I totally agree, and I appreciate you pointing out that it's a family-owned small business. Brian called this afternoon to confirm my order. Told him I appreciated him checking on the validity of the order, especially since my billing address is different than shipping.

Yup... picked up the full Apex with lab-grade pH probe and a MP10w-es. Will grab another MP10 and the WXM module on my next order. Ordering in stages as cashflow allows.

Tank stand is supposed to be delivered tomorrow, which will be helpful... :) (Long story, but I thought I would be able to find something locally that was solid wood. Forgot that my local unfinished furniture place closed and spent an entire day visiting every furniture and pet store within a 50 mile radius without finding anything...)

Woohoo. You won't be disappointed. Well, you might be a little bit, until you get the wxm. But you'll have enough toys to hold you over!
Best of luck starting it up. We are here for you if you need us!
I kind of did the same thing with the stand. I was hoping to find something lower.. Not everyone is 6'10". But I did get used to dragging a kitchen step stool to the tank for maintenance.

Many thanks! You guys have already been tremendously helpful, and I definitely plan to stay active in the forums. I'm super excited to begin learning how to make the most of the Apex. I have some experience using home automation gear around the house and was instantly positive that I would have to have an Apex for the tank. At this point, I'm more excited about the Apex than I am about getting fish & coral! haha!

It's been more helpful than you know to follow this thread and read about the different equipment and techniques that you've tried.

You're an inch off... I am 6'9" :)

You are going to have fun with the apex. If you saw how I mounted, I do not have any wires and it looks sweet on the wall... Apex will be easy to figure out. Program has become easy and there is a great forum over on neptunes website.

Animation is the way to go. When the coral arrived, turNed off lights/skimmer/ ato away from home for my wife to float the bags. When she was done, turned off the Livingroom lights from work... Animation at its best

Got the dosing pumps last night. Haven't set them up, but now part of me wants to set them up and keep them going while I am gone. I will have them programed to turn off if ph gets too high and I will have my phone while I am gone. Hmmm.....

Don't make fun of me cause I'm old and short and forget how tall you are..:spin1:

Apex actually makes this hobby considerable less stressful too. Aside from the automation of it all..its peace of mind.. love all the automation in my house. It really does make life easier...

There. I said it three times....

Starting up my I.M. Fusion 40 after 3 years of being in a 10g and wanting to upgrade.

those photos look like my conversion from JBJ12 to IM40

I had them sitting exactly like that too..

Good luck with your start up!

Thanks! I will be moving the 10g somewhere else just not sure where to move it and the 40g will be taking its place. I've been trying to come up with a stocking list but not sure what I want. Can anyone give me any suggestions on some colorful reef safe fish?

Theres a thread here for just that purpose!

Since the 40 is kind of borderline on size, its best to stick with fish that will not outgrow it. Even some clowns can get too big for this tank.
Also you can check on liveaquaria too. They have a good search tool based on tank size.

There are quite a few to look at and I would say its best just to go look at live aquaria and see what strikes your fancy, then check out the thread above to see what they think..

Thanks I've been checking out live aquaria and here are a few fish I'm really looking at getting. I like the snowflake clowns and flame hawkfish, one question the flame hawkfish is a bottom dweller and is semi aggressive. Do you think it would be aggressive towards a gardener eel?

i have no experience with the hawkfish. I would ask on the intended purchase forum for best results.
