p e mysis too large...

hello,

i bought a couple packs of the p e mysis / cyclopese. my coral / fish love the cyclopese! the mysis is too large for my fish though. they peck at it, but then just leave it alone.

the last batch of mysis i had of a different kind was much smaller and the fish tore it up. i have heard that the p e has more nutritional value, so i thought i would give it a whirl.

has anyone ever chopped mysis and re-frozen it? maybe us a blender and then refreeze?

thoughts to chop it up?

thanks!

Yes, I used to chop and serve PE mysis.

I wouldn't refreeze thawed chopped mysis. IMHO, quality would likely degrade.

Knife.

I tried using a blender once but found it tended to chop too much and I ended up with a cloud of fine particles and larger pieces too.

Using a knife allowed me to determine the piece size and yielded greater uniformity of size.

Seems like a whole lot of trouble to me. Just get the hikari mysis, it is the much smaller type. If you mix the two sizes together probably the fish will get them hang of the bigger ones.

Eventually even small fish will eat it. My garden eels (the most scared animals of the sea) used to be afraid of it, but now even the smallest one will go for a big one that's almost the size of his head.
