Pacific Reefs 65g Cylinder 360!

Well I finally picked up a cylinder tank that I always wanted. The measurements are close to 28"tall by 30" diameter. I've been so tied up with work that I haven't had the chance to take many pictures or even finish the setup. Here is where I am at right now:

Lighting
2x 250w Metal Halide AB 10k Bulbs
2x Reef Optix II reflectors
Blue Wave Dual Magnetic Ballast
PFO 2x32w PC retro kit

Flow & Return
Mag 12 seems to give it plenty of flow

Filtration
Not yet installed but the skimmer is an Aqua C EV180 w/ Mag7
AES sump that is fuge ready.

I've had a lot of fun setting this tank up. I broke down my 92g and transferred what would fit into this tank. I used gutter guard on the overflow to attach rocks with cable ties. Still haven't finished the aquascaping yet.

And of course my inspiration is Teddan's 195g cylinder pictured below:

Thanks. It was custom built by a local acrylic tank builder. He just ordered the cylinder piece and attached the bottom, eurobrace, and the overflow. The overflow has 3 holes on the bottom. There was an extra 1" bulkhead to run the wires from the lights and fans. He also built the stand and canopy.

Thanks for the compliments. Hopefully by next week I will have finished the rest of the aquascaping. I have some rocks sitting in a bucket that I am drilling and cutting to fit in the tank.

Beautiful tank Pacific! I love non-conventional-sized tanks.

Your lighting is impressive; you can keep anything you want under those lights. Do the fans alone help you keep the temp down or are you using a chiller?

Any chance we can get a pic of the sump area? :)

I really thought I would have to run a chiller, but the fans are working really well. No temp increase with the halides on. One blows in the other out.

I will take a pic of the sump as soon as I get a chance. Thanks!!!

WOW! Beautiful tank!

Good to know. I ran one on a 90 gallon once and I couldn't stand the noise.

Where's the picture of the sump area? Come on, get with it! We want more pics! (Aren't you glad you started a build thread now, eh?) ;)

I love the shape of the tank. Is that a gigas in there?

It's actually a Squamosa....tuff to tell from the pic but I will take a better one for you. I have 3 clams in there now including a Crocea and a Derasa.

I have seen this tank in person and it is a beautiful tank! very neat concept.

Thanks...after you came over I moved it! I am going to get some Purple Up to speed up the coralline growth thanks to your recommendation. Most of the rock was sitting at the bottom of my 92g I had before.

is there any distortion on cylindrical tanks?

nevertheless, beautiful tank!

There sure is....makes it tuff to take pictures. It's not the most ideal to clean either. It's a love/hate relationship with this tank.

Ok ok. Give the people what they want. I just moved the tank out of the corner. I had an external sump and switched to one inside the tank. Hope to take pictures tonight after work. Sorry for the delay! ;)
