Padrino's 220 Upgrade

As always, looking great. Your design skills are IMO just as good as your labor and craftmanship!

I can't remember, what are your plans for canopy? Are you going rimless or will there be an actual canopy. I seem to remember an LED build somewhere along the way....

I don't see a problem with the stone and salt water but what about that beautiful bamboo? Will tung oil be sufficient protection?

Thank you.
Salt water is a preserver and i think bamboo grows in sat water doesn't it? The tung oil seals the bamboo to a degree. I may add additional protection afterwards if required ill have to test some sticks i have left over and see what happens when splashed with salt water.

Forgot to ask... typically you need to lathe and skim coat behind the stone but I noticed you are going straight over the plywood. Any issues doing it that way?

I've never ever had an issue in the past. However keep in mind, i am using premium products from kiesel. I used an acrylic primer on the drywall and plywood prior to using the servolight which is a modified thinset walls and designed for vertical installations. Its awesome stuff. It doesn't sag during installation like other products ive tried. I fully endorse their product line!

Looks awesome, really like the rock look and under cabinet lighting. Can't wait to see it all done and tank running.

The rockwork looks like a million bucks with the lighting done that way. Nice job!

I noticed that you are running a closed loop (another very nice touch!). I was wondering if you are planning to conceal the plumbing inside of the tank with a marine epoxy or leave it exposed? I am getting ready to crack open a product I bought called polygem to do the same thing.

Thanks guys!

My plan was to try and conceal them as much as possible without limiting the flexibility of changing the direction. I'd love to have them totally hidden but I'm not sure how the flow will be with rock and coral in the tank. So I don't know how I'm gonna tackle that one just yet. This week I'm gonna finalize another custom drum to incorporate the closed loop intakes.

My friend acquired a 240v 1500va ups which will be used as a small insurance policy for my closed loop system.
I'm trying to keep the momentum flowing.
Cheers

+1:thumbsup:

Rob, what type of lighting did you use for that under cabinet (ledge) accent?

I used a led tape strip that has 3m tape on the back side. I bought it from a guy i go to for high end household lighting in vaughan near my work. There is 3 leds every 2 inches and can be any length you want as long as its an even number. I then took a meanwell driver and installed it in a small metal box to make it csa approved, ran a switch to it and now i have light on demand.

Cheers
Rob

Rob I just wanted to pop in and say "Wow!" Your work is inspiring. Aesthetically speaking I have never seen a layout that is more impressive. Now your challenge is going to be making the inside just as nice as the outside. I am looking forward to watching your progress.

looks great good luck in the future building you have thought of alot to build this reef I am sure it will pay off

Thanks guys!
It's very difficult to think of every possible scenario especially while life's other distractions play their part. This is particularly why this build has dragged on for so long.

I have a feeling I may need to slow down for the next month or two. I need to do my taxes for last year and I have a terrible feeling that my work doesn't know how to process payroll properly and I may have to pay back more money than I have. Lets hope not!
