Par 38 LED spotlights

i got my par bulb off ebay, seams to be doing ok, i just finished today aquascaping the tank and putting in my onyx clowns with rbt anem, every think is upset from moving but here are the pictures,

the tank is a 14 gallon nano, the par bulb is (6) 1 watt 10k, and (6) 1 watt atinic, i dont have it turned all the way up, its about 65 percent maby, and is mounted 17 inches from the bottom of the light to the tank, 30 degree optics,

Led liquidators. 12x3w Cree white par38. Kicks ***. It's a 6500k type bulb. IMO not very yellow at all.

Yellow is all relative. It's kinda like when driving at night in a car w/ halogen headlamps and seeing a new car with Xenon's come at you and they look blue. They aren't really blue because the Xenon's are closer to white than the halogens your eye just perceives them to be blue because you are used to the more yellow halogen. That said I like those PAR38's as a balance to my very blue ReefBrite setup. They are VERY bright and I have them mounted in the front corners of my hood pointed 45 degrees toward the middle of the tank for a midday effect. I think to get a more natural look you kinda need some more yellowish light to balance it all out.

One question I have when using an uber bright concentrated light like these is regarding acclimation. Is cutting the light down to a few hours a day when blasting something this bright in the tank roughly equivalent to dimming them over the whole day? Mine don't dim so that isn't an option but I took them off line when I added another ReefBrite XHO out of fear of too much light and have been running them an hour a day with the hopes of boosting it another hour every week.

Would you recommend this bulb? On the led liquidators website it says the cool white is 53k, it this the bulb we are talking about?

It;s the 36 watt bulb from ledlightliquidators. It appears to be around 6K. I would recommend it for a fuge or FW planted tank.

light holder

light holder

Well I found an interesting way to mount them... assuming you don't mind it looking a little hillbillyish. These are two utility lamps with the shades removed zip tied onto a dog grooming arm.

Now we'll see how long it takes for my fiance to find out her grooming arm is missing.

Here's what it looks like on the nanocube:

i should have quoted this, this light holder looks awsome

Went to Ikea for this lamp shade, it was 10 bucks. This lamp shade good out great, plenty of room for the heat to get out.

My tank is up and running for a month now. Everything is doing fine. Im surprise that only one bulb cover the whole tank. The bulb is about 12'' from the water. So the light fixture, hanging bar and lamp shade cost me $20.00 total, thats not bad at all.
