Paracheilinus Attenuatus (Diamond Tail Flasher wrasse)

I'm looking for a pair of these. I know Divers Den has them occasionally but haven't seen one there since I've been looking. Any other sources that carry high end wrasses? Anyone have a ball park price for these if I ever do find one or two? TIA

I saw one on LA the other day but was told that the coloring is not usually as vibrant as the photo in LA (unless of course on DD). If you are going to spend the $, have you considered a Labout's or Lineatus?

LA has xl lineatus males currently on sale (I am currently waiting for mine to arrive on Tuesday).

They don't come around very often, I picked mine up last month at the price of 250, it's an initial phase male, that came in with a super male. The super male sold for more money. I would imagine a pair would run at least 500, but the females are extremely hard to find. I believe there has only been two documented females in the USA.

Availability is the problem.

The legality of their collection in their known region is questionable.

On rare occasion, some are collected in nearby regions where McCoskers are collected. It's these that find their way into the states.

So as their supply is quite limited and the demand is quite high, you may find yourself looking for several years before you happen to stumble upon the opportunity.

Thanks all for your comments. Gsiegel, I have considered Lineatus but seems what I see locally is never as colorful as the pics I see online. Like you said, unless it's DD I'm not sure I can count on the LA fish looking as stunning as the pics. Let us know how yours looks. I'll have to think more about the Labouts.

jaa1486, where did you get yours? Does yours flash much without a female?

Just moved mine into the display. He flashes bu I am sure a female would really bring out some color. There is a female flame wrasse in the tank so maybe he will get confused lol.

It sounds like sum have been collected
I will also have a look if i can find any. Thy do look nice !

I got the Lineatus. WOW! Georgeous! Lights are out but will post a pic when I can. Pricey even at a discounted $240 but I have no regrets.

Here is the lineatus. About 4-5 inches and awesome!

Mine is not a supermale it's a male, but still transitioning. I got mine from the same Lfs that mikeandnicole got theirs from. The Lfs only brought in two, they are bringing in a small Gem tang next week, I will have to go decide on it Tuesday.

Put up photos of the Paracheilinus attenuatus. This is a Paracheilinus attenuatus treat and we only have Cirrhilabrus lineatus photos

Thanks for the pic of the lineatus. Does look great. Seems a pair of the attenuatus will be too much to hope for, I'll be happy if just a male comes up. Let's let this thread die. Don't want too much competition for the few diamond tails that do come up. :) They're even looking in South Africa. Dang!!

I already put pics up on a wrasse thread, I just don't remember if it was this site or another. I will check when I get home, if they aren't on this site I will load them onto this thread.

Here are some pics, not the best. My Diamond tail doesnt really flash to much, unless it does it when Im not looking.
