Paracheilinus Attenuatus (Diamond Tail Flasher wrasse)

My diamond tail is going crazy in my acclimation box. He is swiming around and wants to go out so bad.. he swims into the "walls" and flashing.. what should i do? release him? Hes in the box since yesterday morning.

Just my female jordani comes and watches him. But no aggression just interest. But I dont know as my exqusite is going crazy I guess. Aded the female jordani 2 weeks ago.. Good idea now to release him?

do you think she will be aggressive since shes is the newest member in the tank. I dont knoe if she already feels that established to play the boss role. But I will keep my diamond tail in my box, safty first

Yes, hold off on releasing. The female Jordanian probably not boss of tank, but may be the boss of the diamond tail.
While mine was in acc box, my red velvet was most interested initially, then the exquisite was next, and he was the longest pursuer too at 6 days.
All turned out fine when I released after no interest was shown.

Hi all

I released my diamond tail yesterday. The exquisite chased him a little bit and showed him whos the boss. My jordani didnt really care but then rhe diamond tail wanted to check the jordanis sleeping place and she went crazy. The diamond tail was shocked and went into the rockwork. I did not see him yet bit I can see him through some rocks and he is just sleeping there since 1 day.

Is that normal?

Flasher can be a bit spooky for the first 2-3 days after introduction. I wouldn't be overly worried just yet.

My first one never got over being spooked and the second is in QT still and is a big chicken too, I just threw him in my other QT with the pintail to see if he'll gain some toughness with other fish around.

This morning I saw him still hanging around in his cocoon right next to my exquisitus. They sleep at the same spot. Hopefully the diamond tail makes it because he is such a beautiful fish! Saw him flashing in the bluelight after releasing and this coloration with the shiny blue stripes is just awesome!

How long can they do it without eating?

Just a little bump to see how everyone's fish are doing. I got to see one in person for the first time and have had the itch to buy once ever since.

After my first two DOA's, I bought my third from DD. Arrived very healthy, did very well throughout QT, and awesome in the DT. Has no problem competing with the 10 other Wrasses, and does its fair share of chasing. Mine doesn't flash much though. Otherwise, no issues at all.

Mine ate some reef glue that fell in the tank as I was fragging. It was a mad dash by all my fish to get it, but it was the Diamond tail. I could see him try to spit it back out, but couldnt. He wasnt able to eat and was dead within a week of eating the glue. Prior to that he was just fine, in the mix with everyone else. I have never seen a fish eat glue before...

That is a sad and crazy story! But does sound like something mine would do. I will be more careful in the future when fragging. .

Hey Marshall did the diamond tails that arrived DOA on you come from NY Aqutics by any chance? That is where I was thinking about orderring from.

Thanks

Mike

They did actually. However since then, I have done many orders with Michael. My C. cf lanceolatus, M. bipartitus, H. iridis, and H. melanurus all came from him, arriving in very good condition. I would not hesitate to order from him.
