Pastey's 200DD

That looks great! You'll have to forgive me if I missed something, but are you just using the two MP40wES's at this point? If so, are they doing the job well?

I'm using 3 MP40s. 1 on each side and then 1 on the back wall.

*KNOCK ON WOOD*

but I have had no detritus buildup or cyano so far and we are approaching the 1 year mark.

Nikon came out for a baby shower (not mine) so I snapped a few pictures of the tank.

Been MIA thanks to a touch of illness but I was able to add some things this weekend thanks to some prescription pain killers. With the haddoni gone, I was finally able to add my wife's favorite fish: mandarin dragonet. It being the only predominant copepod hunter in the 200 that has been going for over a year with a large pod population in the refugium, I figure it has more then enough to sustain itself.

Started Kalk via top off the other day at half dose (1tsp/gallon). And just bumped it to full dose after monitoring pH. I was getting steady 7.9 at half so today will be the test if it will get up to the 8.1ish I'm hoping for. Either way, its way better than the 7.7-7.8 I was getting.

Also added some more zoa frags to the zoa rock. Some generic blues and a 3 polyp frag of sunny d's. They haven't opened all the way so no pictures yet.

Green Nepthea. I've got it rubberbanded to some non-used base rock. The tank it came from has some unwanted algae so I took it from the rock it was on. Waiting on it to attach so I can put it where i want.

Not sure if this is a lobo, wellso, symphillia or what so anyone feel free to chime in as to what this is exactly:

2 clams...I'm guessing Maxima but my clam knowledge is pretty low. The blue on the left opened pretty quick but the one on the right has yet to open. He said he's had them for 6-7 months but they've never really grown. I'll have to hunker down and so some reading to educate myself on clam keeping...

Open brain coral - Trachyphyllia, either T. radiata or T. geoffroyi. Most likely the latter, as it is the more commonly imported of the two.

Nice tank, I really was thinking of getting a 200DD tank myself to replace my 120G tank. Just the amount of room you have to work with seems worth the price of admission.

Merry Christmas to all. Not much to update with but I added some zoas to my growing "garden" and a rock with quite a few red mushrooms.

Added 15-20 polyp frags of "Fire and Ice" and "Gumby" zoas

A tiny RBTA has somehow made it into my sump and I noticed it today, stuck to my skimmer:

Been keeping an eye out for the right tang to add alongside my sailfin. I really like the life and movement tangs bring to the tank. I'm just worried that the sailfin will bully a new addition that has a similar body shape.

Finally got around to doing something I always meant to from the start by syncing my 3 MP40s. I have them set on nutrient transport but I may change them. I never knew you could assign them positions in relation to the master pump. That was a pretty clever touch from someone smarter than I.

I've been researching a couple of different "centerpiece" fish to round out my list and I have finally decided to tackle the Achilles tang. I have always loved their coloration and never ending energy. I keep the tank quite turbulent and I feed on the heavier side. If/when I come across a healthy specimen, I will scoop it up. Just a matter of waiting.

Other than that decision, not much has changed with the tank. I'm continuing to dose vodka at 3.1ml per day and I'll up the dosage to 3.6 in 2 days.

This was an older picture of when I was doing my plumbing but it was the only one I could find showing the ball valve that I included in the plumbing with the intention of adding a manifold for reactors down the road. It comes out at a 45 degree angle.

Hoping to get a little feedback about the best way to build the manifold. What is the best way to plumb the reactor outputs? Is it best to cap off the end of the manifold or have an open ended design that drains?

If you have a design that has worked really well for you, feel free to post a picture here, please. In the mean time, I'm going to dig around the forums for pictures.

I have the same trigger-systems sump except mine is 42 " long, i tried the reactor from the drain but there just wasn't enough pressure or it was difficult to adjust drains, the output I directed to the filter socks to catch any dust. eventually i got it to work but as the reactor clogged the drain slowed, affecting my water level. the most reliable i found was a small pump like the EXT 800 with 1/2 inch surgical tubing.
