Path to recovery, and 3 weeks growth.

corals are looking good you have alot of nice pieces hope you win the battle with the aefw luckily you have the frag tank to put your coral in after dip and inspection , you have to find the eggs and destroy that nest..good luck it's a battle I have fought and lost over 2010 took a year to get back in this crazy hobby ...

Thanks, unfortunately this isn't my first bout with them either. I had them in my old system and lost...and prior to that I'm guessing they are what wiped out corals in another system but at the time we just didn't know what they were. At this point I've had them for over a year in this tank I seem to be able to "live with them", but I really want to just get rid of them I thought i had finally broken the cycle. They seem to be at this point limited to 2 pieces a part of me wants to just remove but I feel like if I do that they may just gravitate some where else where as now at least I have a couple lighting rods that I know I can keep dipping and will survive the dips. I have to say though I was really surprised at the quantity I found despite the lack of obvious damage to the coral. Even though there was only 1 on my Garf Bosnai there were clear bite marks. That one piece had 15-20, and I couldn't find a single mark.. who knows. I think over the next month I'm just going to dip those 2 pieces (and a couple validas, and a efflo.) once a week. I know they can take the dips and they seem to be the focal point for the AEFW.

I didn't have the best luck dipping mine. I went to the vet and convinced him I wasn't going to be doing anything bad with the prescription of Interceptor. That worked really well. 1 dose and never again. I dosed the whole tank. Dipping only removes the AEFW on that 1 coral.....they are elsewhere...I promise. Esp with that kinda flow :)

Just make sure all inverts come out. Clams are ok. But Shrimp, Crabs and Snails come out! 12 hours later and you're done. GL

Thanks, unfortunately interceptor wont' kill AEFW. I did just do a few rounds of dosing it however to deal with the Red bugs (which are now gone).

I thought I beat them before, but they showed up months later.I never had them bad though. I started the FWStop shortly after you did, haven't seen any in 2 months. Your corals are looking great!

I do see some once in a while in my system still. but no damage, no bite marks, I personally think KZ Flatworm stop did that ...

Thanks for the compliments.

Hmm, I don't know what to think anymore in regards to in tank aefw treamtment. I posted on the zeo forum. Phol told me to stop dipping my corals because it is making them weak.... I went 3 weeks without dipping and found 15-20+ AEFW on that piece.. I donnu. I can't complain tank is still working over all. I think at some point I need to decide what is going to happen with my living situation and if I end up moving I will setup a new tank first in more of a frag tank style so I can dip every piece that is dip-able, and once I'm free of them go back to setting up a DT.

What i'm still perplexed by is the sunset monti

It's been a while. Just wanted to do a quick photo update. Nothing to crazy I took some FTS. Past month or 2 has been a bit odd. I haven't spent to much time with the tank but all things considering it's doing OK. I'm still have issues with AEFW, and my red bugs are back (need to do another round of interceptor PE is down), and I had some issues with heat that I recognized a couple weeks to late (so I did get a little stn) but it's all recovering now. Last year I didn't need to setup the fans it was such a cool summer.. This year hasn't been hot but hot enough w/the halides to require fans over the tank if I want to keep it @ 77. I'm not sure how/why but the sunset monti fully came back around.

Anyways here is a quick Full Tank Progress shot.

This is about 4 months growth. I haven't really added any corals in the past 4 months so it's nice to kinda see how they have grown with little change to the tank. I'm up to 140ml or so a day now, which is 110 more then where I was when I started this thread.
