PAY-PAL email

Did anyone else get an email saying their pay-pal account has been restricted? Followed the link to a page that wanted my social security # and other info.
I didn't think it was right so I went to the pay-pal site and everything was normal, no restriction. I think it was a phishing scam, be careful.

I get those alot I just forward them to spoof@paypal.com . If you highlight the link and the website it gives you does not seem right. Anytime in doubt foward it to the that address and they will tell you if its a real email. There is to many scams going around.

There was no way I was filling out the form, soc security #, name, address, phone #'s. Just thought I post to see if any others had seen this from pay-pal, because it was dead on as far as the pay-pal site appearance.

Yes but did it use your full name in the subject or heading? If not then it was a scam.

I al;ways delet the spam then you can just log onto your paypal account and see if you have a message. Avoid the spam. :) hope this helps...Carl

I receive one of these with my full name every so often. I always forward them to paypal. THey have all been phishing. Sometimes they look really legit. ALways logon to your accounts, bank, paypal, etc from your browser, not from an email link. They are too easy to spoof and can look very realistic. Most places will tell you they never ask for social security numbers, account numbers etc.
I also get lots of these from banks I never did business with. Sometimes I log in according to the email and leave bogus info with a nasty note or two. It doesn't stop them but it makes me feel better.

You can track the email back but usually it will take you to an email account of someone who has no idea their email account has been spoofed and is sending out virus, trojan and phishing emails for the con artists.:o

i emailed paypal before about this and they called me back and explained that paypal will not ask for personal info like ss# in an email, so they just dont ask for info like that in an email from what they explained anyway.

I love getting those....I fill the forms out with nice, obscene, profane and insulting language. You should see the passwords I come up with. :D

when you go to a site that you think isn't on the up and up, check the address bar. If it is actually a paypal webpage where you are required to input info, the address will read HTTPS ://blahblahblah.com The S tells you that the site is secure. Not necessarily a foolproof way to safeguard yourself, but it's a start

I also get them once in a while... its a scam... I just delete them...Paypal says on their site they never ask for personal information via E-mail....
