Peacock Paradise Buildup!

Should be good now, I just used photobucket to copy the image and provided the link to give credit where credit is due.

What about a tube anemone, (cerianthid)? I'm trying to get one for my peacock tank. They are nonphotosynthetic and the colors are insane. I got a purple one from reefs2go but it was DOA.

Woa those are cool. I wonder if LA ever gets any in

They do. :) There have been a lot of them popping up lately, especially orange and orange w/green centers. I had one in my shopping cart and someone swiped it out from under me. I don't want you looking for one though...seems like when you have your mind set on something it dissapears from the market.

I'm a fan of the O. havanensis and they are cheaper than the peacocks. Sealifeinc.net has them in stock. I ordered one from them a while back and it arrived alive but only lived about a week after that.

Ccritters.com also have o. havanensis from time to time. They carry mostly oesterdiis but I am sure that you can e-mail them and ask for a specific mantis. It seems they collect them straight from the Keys it as all they offer if from FL and they are based in FL. Also promising that they will send you the right species as they state what they carry meaning they can actually identify differences.

I love those tube anemone's. I plan on getting on too. A rock flower would do good with the lighting you have too. If you can keep a frogspawn and polyps you can definitely keep a rock flower.

If you don't have a preference for a mantis then really I think any would be pretty awesome as long as you don't get one that needs something like mud or a 30' deep sandbed. I would highly suggest against getting a G. Smithii though. Well, at least until I get mine first. :lol2:

Did you pick up that purple tube anemone? How about that kelp? I know it's just algae but it sure is nice looking.

i saw in one of your pics, you have a feather duster in your tank.

how did you "anchor" it in? did you "plant" it in the substrate or drill a hole in a rock??

They actually attach themselves to rock over time. I just leaned him up against the rock and he anchored himself pretty quick.

Aaaah, i should try that. i just picked up a duster, but i don't want to plant it in the sand coz it'll be easy to dig up then whenever i do get a mantis.

btw, your tank looks pretty awesome

SJ, your thread is an emotional Roller Coaster, searching for the mantis, finding one, loosing it; really sorry about the little guy, hope you get it settled soon and find another tank mate :)

Wow, what a great thread. I'm sorry about your mantis, you waited for him for quite a while. I've been curious about mantis and after seeing your set up and other's comments, I think I would like to get a mantis too. Thanks.
