Peacock Paradise Buildup!

All livestock will be removed except the clown. Of course now that I'm done with the tank, stomatopod.coms stock goes from 3 peacocks to zero

Isn't that how it always goes? We get really excited about something, research the heck out of how to do it perfectly, get everything ready.......and POOF you won't find one for months!

They had the perfect little 3" O. that Ive been watching for months. Now its gone as of this week :sad1: . I have been researching these guys for the last year and a half, waiting to get a tank up and running that would suit one.

sj-

wow, i just did a search on liveaquaria and bluezooaquatics, and they are out as well. tough luck man. look on the bright side: it will give you time to really let your tank get established. also, with temperatures high around the country right now, shipping puts animals at risk. so maybe it's a blessing in disguise?

Well the tank everything came from was about 6 months old, although I did add a bunch of new LS. Good point on the temp this time of year, we are having a helluva heat wave where im at in cali

Would it be ok if I substituted my own LR rubble, as in broken up pieces of LR? Also I was reading that o. scyllarus likes a salinity of 1.023-1.025, so I have been slowly reducing it to right in the middle. Sound ok?

LR rubble will help but my first peacock setup was with sand and when i redid her tank the first time i switched to coral rubble and building her burrows was a lot easier for her and def more well done. I felt like she was out more often cause she felt more secure in her burrow and spent less time fixing it.

great build! very simple, any picks of how you drilled the hole and installed the overflow??

bump because i want to see how this is coming along!

btw, what is your plan for live rock? may i suggest tampa bay saltwater? the rock is truly stunning, and richard will throw in all sorts of free corals and sponges and gorgonias to make your tank an instant reef tank stunner. when i ordered, he threw in three beautiful n. wennerae, each a different color (red, green and blue). great guy. he also has stunning DRY rock. what i did was get a huge piece of dry rock as my centerpiece, and live rock to put around it. that huge piece of dry rock is now encrusted with coralline and other critters. check it out here

Well Ill try and some recent pics up, still got a lot of diatomes so it's not too pretty. I already have plenty of LR so that's not an issue. Can't find a o.scyllarus to save my life :(

would you consider a blind one? there's someone in so cal who has one that lost both eye stalks in a recent molt who is not sure he wants to keep it anymore. there's a recent thread on it.

Here's some update pics, still lookin for a mantis...
