Pearlberry placement?

A while back I got a frag pack from a guy, and all the frags I got from him are looking amazing...except for the pearlberry it was a nice light blue/teal colour now it's solid brown. I figured being a "smooth" deep water looking acro I would put it half way down my tank which is only 18" tall, and has 250w halide & 6 T5s over it. Is pearlberry one of those pieces that needs to be nuked? Right now it's in "tenuis land", should I move it up to "milli world"?

I can keep decent color on mine from bottom to nearly top with t5 but the sweet spot in my tank is about 10 inches under water surface.

4 inches under water surface directly under a lumenarc with a 250 watt radium.Mine loves all the light and flow I can manage

12" under 10k hammy, area with large water flow also.

I have mine about 3 inches under the surface, almost directly under my 150w 14K Phoenix buld in a high flow area. It has faded and browned out considerably since a recent move and alk spike, but the new growth is sunning. I read this thread and seminolcpa said he "crushes" his with light. If mine looked half as good as the photo he posted I would be happy. Mine took quite awhile to settle in, so it might still acclimating to your tank, best of luck!

Thanks, ya when I first got it looked almost platinum. Now it's brown, and while most of the other frags I received from the guy are already encrusting over where I glue'd them. This one.. is just brown and grumpy.

Keep in mind that it's not only about lighting. Flow and water quality will play a huge part, as well. You could give it the perfect amount of light but if your water quality isn't as good as it should be, you won't get optimal color.

High flow and 6" under 150W MH and LEDs. I got my frag as an ugly brown, and now it's coloring up now, base nice deep green and purple tips starting to come in. Encusting too, but not much growth yet.

Just above the middle of my 90 gallon tank under a 250 DE Reeflux 12K in a LumenBright pendant. The contrast of the chalice below makes it pop.

I'm with Dan and the others. I have two colonies. Both are high placement and seem to soak up the high light. One is getting absolutely blasted by an MP40. They look great IMO. The one with more flow grows much tighter (though it's bigger), but they both really do look nice in my system. I have a tall 150gal and I never had to move them.

I bet you will see positives with more light. Cheers!

I've been trying to upload pics, but phone problems. Ill try later.
