Peeping Banggai Fry

Sorry for the late reply, just now saw this, but they are CB. It was a major job to find any at all. I was lucky enough to find an old thread on here about Inland Aquatics breeding them so I sent them an e-mail. I bought them as a mated juvenile pair.

Someone else is going to have to take over this thread because I just lost my last one. About a week ago it FINALLY started eating something besides BBS and things were going really well. Tonight when I was feeding it got spooked and jumped out of the tank and hit the floor, died instantly. Not to sure if I will attempt to raise another batch or not.
 
We had Aquatic Pro Solutions help me with maintanance on the tank today and it spooked one of the male Banggais and he released some of his babies. Mike spotted 3 in the main tank so he and Patrick tried to catch them... no success..... Mike spotted 3 in the over flow box and was able to capture those.... and he found 4 in the socks of the refugiums... one of the babies didnt look so good and it didn't survive. Ed and found 3 more in the refugium tonight, we were able to capture those and placed them in the nursery. So we have 6 in the nursery and there are 3 still in the main tank. Hope they make it into the refugiums and not become dinner tonight.

Sorry to hear about your troubles but at least you were able to get some of them.
Is the male still holding any? By the looks of them they were about ready anyway.

Hopefully I'll be about 3 weeks behind you. My male started holding on the 9th.
 
Thank, they do look good. I just didnt have any food available....
I can't tell if he is holding more or not, he is still hiding, which makes me believe he "might" still have a few. We place a trap in the tank, so we are hoping we caputre one of the males.
 
We found two more babies in the socks of the refugiums this morning. They look a little ruff. But they are eating. Our "other" male in the main tank is still holding eggs.

I just noticed our other male in our 40g breeder is holding eggs!
We are going to have lots babies......
We have a total of 4 males and 3 females.

This is a great forum. I am new to RC and this is my first post.

I am just now setting up a breeding tank, its a 40g breeder with a 20g sump. I have it partitioned into 4 sections and I'm wanting to breed two pairs or cardinals and two pairs of clowns.

My question is can you breed cardinals in this type of set up. I notice everyone here is using their DT and then later moving the fry to a grow out area. If I use this type of set up what should I put in the cardinals breeding section? live rock?

I know for the clowns I will be using the clay pots that everyone else uses but I dont think that will be the best set up for the cardinals.

Any help will be greatly appreciated and I will be posting pics soon of my breeding tank. As of right now it is in the garage undergoing a 24 hour water check to make sure there are no leaks and hopefully tomorrow I will be moving it in the house.
 
i think a lot of people use their reef tanks to raise bangaiis because its conventional I just use a breeder net in my fuge all i have to do is add BBS water quality is taken care of by equipment that is already in place.

My male started holding again last night. I thought for sure that introducing that juvenile set of clowns would disrupt the breeding cycle, but I guess not.
Still not sure if I'm up to try and raise another batch. If he makes it past day 14 I guess it will be decision time.
 
Anyone still breeding these little devils? I just noticed my male was holding eggs last night.
