Peninsular 280 bar build

sweet. i've been waiting for this thread to show up. really dig the tank design you ended up with. great job with the solana btw..

tagging along..

Ahh no! I've owned suzuki's before, nothing special to me. Never owned an R1, but ridden plenty of them, sweet bike! I love kawi's, many 03/04 636, since I'm a stunter. Thats a tough decision to make, upgrade the fish tank or keep the R1. I am considering selling all my fish stuff for another stunt piece, I'd probably regret it though. Goodluck with everything though! Love peninsula tanks!

Thanks Porthios.

Yea unfortunately I have too many hobbies so at times money is taken from one to go to another and i wonder why nothing ever gets done. I miss the handling but i was never a stunter coundnt afford the consequences.

Won't have much to update till the end of the week when the trim and paint gets done. I have been trying to find a larger/cheap sump as I don't think the 75g is going to cut it or i may just put a 55g along side it.

Thanks, I think i am going to try and take out one of the stacks to give some more open sand space but i will just reevaluate once i get the tank up.

Well i figured it was about time to resurrect my build thread. It will be pretty picture intense.

I have pretty much acquired all of my equipment except a sump which the initial one shattered when being drilled so i am in search of a new one.

Major Equipment list:
ATI 10x80w Powermodule
Orca 250 pro skimmer
Geo 618 calcium reactor with Gen-x media and magnesium media
Geo Kalk reactor
Dart return pump
4 Gen 2 vortechs for flow
RK2 controller will be transferred along with tunze top off

Here we have the sweat shop worker.

Here is the bracing to support the bar and my weight for maintenance.

Another shot with the original sump before it shattered.

Here is pretty much what the bar will look like when done, i still have to cut about 3" off each side but you get the idea of the granite tile.

I will continue with the updated pics, unfortunately i didn't have any pics of moving day all hands were assisting, we moved my 280g and my friends 300g in the same day way too much stress for one day.

I have all of the dead rock I am going to use in the tank and i have about 50lbs of live rock that came from my friends tank since all mine is in the solana. So after about a week and a half it is all cycled but you won't get those pics tonight they are still on the camera.

Before the rock went in.

I ordered 5 of these stools for around the bar, thought they looked good and I wasn't breaking the bank on stools.

I am trying to get them uploaded just waiting on photobucket to finish.

Thanks guys, yeah i gave the sweat shop worker a chance to clean up before being aloud in the tank.

Here is the preliminary rock structure with just the dead rock in the tank. I plan on adding all of the live rock from my solana strategically placed on top of the dead rock.

There is about 350lbs of sand in the tank and i would estimate around 130lb of dead rock. Trying to keep it open.

Filling the tank from the pre made salt water in the garage.

Here is the tank all filled up with the powerheads running. All the live rock from my friends sump has been put in the tank so the landscape is not accurate at the moment.

Well thats it for today i will have to get the rest of the pics off of the camera tomorrow. I have to be like Ed and leave room for suspense. Tomorrow we will have to see just how much room there is for a Orca 250 with the upgraded needle wheel and pro cup under neath the stand.

And which 'ed' are you talking about

If i am not mistaken I believe i am speaking of this Ed :lmao:

Darn.... you must be mistaken as this 'ed' doesn't tease.....!!

Just slow on the updates some times :D

Well you don't have to tell me about being slow on the updates i started this thread last november and I just now have water in it.

Blue + lights only running no flash

033.jpg

Here is with the flash a little better representation

035.jpg

All the lights running, I think i may want to make it a little bluer in the future, I was able to get fixture used so it already had a bulb selection.

Couple chromis hanging out.

Don't pay attentions to the aquascaping as all the extra live rock in there at the moment was just thrown in to seed the dead rock.

Now I upgraded before i even started from an Orca 200 to an Orca 250 pro skimmer. I have 3/4 foam underneath the tank for the sump and equipment to sit on to quiet it down. I think i have a 1/2-3/4 of clearance above the skimmer cup. I will have to take all the screws out every time to slide the cup on when cleaning.

031.jpg

Well that is as far as i have gotten so far, I am still in search of the all elusive sump, can't do any thing further without it except maybe hang the light fixture.

Anyone know of a good track that I could put the fixture on so i could slide it out from over the tank when maintenance is needed on the fixture or tank?

Thanks
Jason

This is what I did for my old tank

I use this....

Detail on how the rail move....

This way your powermodule can move left/ right/ forward/ backward

And you can used the powermodule cable to raise up/down and tilde even

Hope that helps.....

hmm I wonder if i can find something like that at home depot or lowes? I know that's not where you got yours. Did you have to order the rollers or were you able to get them with the track?

Thanks for the heads up Ed.

Jason

I'm sure Home Depot carries them - they are just aluminum track for roller doors and those roller are for roller door to match !!

Comes in different weight category so just tell them the estimate weight of your powermodule +20% and you should be safe

Let me know if you got any question !!

Good luck

I did see those kind but I ended up buying pocket door tracks they were rated for 75lb and i bought 2, 1 for each side pictures to follow.

Well i am supposed to be picking up a used 120g 48x24x24 tomorrow. I will be out of town for fathers day weekend so I probably won't be able to get it all plumbed before then. So hopefully by the following weekend I will have the tank drilled with the baffles installed.
