Peppermint Angel

That is a dumb purchase. Should have left it in the ocean. Just because you can buy it does not mean you should. Whether it was $22,000 or $30,000 just stupid. Not impressed at all

You can say this about every fish that has been collected out of its natural habitat. Judging from your recent posts it has not stopped you from purchasing wild caught fish. What is the difference between collecting a Peppermint Angelfish compared to a Majestic/Navarchus Angelfish?....Absolutely Nothing! Just because a fish is collected in deep water does not mean its an endangered species or less prevalent than a fish that resides in shallow water.....

It really irks me when people just spew out nonsense like this. :furious:

The pressure in a home aquarium has absolutely zero effect on the longevity of these fish - or fish in general. If a fish is not adequately decompressed during collection it will not survive for more than a few seconds after reaching the surface of the water. Peppermint angels are difficult to catch and difficult to get to, thus the high cost. There is, however, no shortage of them in the wild. In their natural habitat, mineatus groupers snack on peppermint angels all day long...

ignore it...you can never make everybody happy....:deadhorse:

So, does anyone know if this fish is still alive and well?

It was gone the last time I went to Living Reef. I asked and was told that the original buyer backed out, but it was immediately bought by someone else (and removed from the store). I have no idea where it went.

Sadly, she was bought and then died 3 weeks later...

That makes me sad. The fish looked like it was doing well in the store.

yeah, very sad as she had been doing great. lr had her for 5 months, unfortunately she died 3 weeks after being taken home by new owner. I heard she did not eat in new tank and that was a real issue with many of them.
