I was looking at my clown tonight and it appears to have upset a bristleworm. It has a bunch of spines stuck in and around its eye.

I mostly want to know....will it be ok? will the spines work their own way out? is there something I can do to help, or is it better just to let it be?

here are some pics :(

just be glad it wasn't a fireworm. We had a pair of those a couple of years back that took down 3 fish before we finally trapped them out.

It'll be fine in a couple of days. My fool purple firefish has a running feud with a 10-inch bristleworm, and does this at least once a month. Both fish and worm are fine.

What is the difference between a bristle worm and a fire worm?

A fireworm is a type of bristle worm. Most bristle worms are detrovires and scavengers. But there are a few species, most commonly refered to as fireworms that are predatory.

fireworms also have venomous spines, hence the term "fireworm", relating to how they feel if you pick one up (and get stung). And yes, they are quite predatory.

He should be ok. I saw my strawberry dottyback attack/try to eat a bristleworm that was a tad too big for his mouth. After a couple seconds of rustling about, the dottback came out with spines stuck all over his eyes and mouth.
