How dose my spawning Female look? She is about 5 yrs old and I notice her gills look slightly frayed....I this normal. I never really notice a difference, just notice and wondered if it was normal and just her coloring. Also, Slight brownish dot or two on her, Interested either of these are bad and if I should worry. Thanks in advance and pics to follow.

Hello,

She looks fat..=)

The black spot that she has; what is she hosting in?

Lots of clownfish devlope something called Melanism, its where their skin darkens with little black spots from the stings of what they are hosting in.

If that is what she has its harmless. =)

Thank you so much for the response. Do the Gills look ok. I thought they might look frayed...was concerned. They don't host anything at the moment, there nesting site is a 4in Clay pot base in the upper right hand side of my tank near the overflow. They hang out and sleep there. They have done a lot more exploring since I changed around and added some rock work. Have a RTBA on the other side of the tanks I hope they don't start hosting because the egg retrieval could be harder. :) They are delayed on there scheduled spawn for 10 days since moving stuff around. their tubes have been down at time for two days and they have been cleaning there site again, so I hope they start up again and are not impacted or something. Thanks again and any other info would be greatly appreciated....Carl
