Perry's 120 Gallon Reef

Finally decided to setup a larger tank, at least for me I was able to get a local deal to purchase the entire setup, with everything included. I have already made upgrades to hardware, and have decided on barebottom. The reef came complete with corals and fish, the breakdown then setup was done in under 4 hours, including an hour of drive time. I did not lose one coral or fish, the hippo tang was a bit sketchy for the day, but came out later that night and ate, as did all the fish. The tank specs, equipment, and livestock are as follows:

Tank:
120 Gallon Marineland corner flow~48"x24"x24"
Sump~standard 40 gallon breeder

Lights:
Tek Elite 8x54watt using ATI bulbs
Led Strip w/ 48 3watt rb for actinic

Pumps:
Maxflow 1500 return pump
Jebao WP25
Tunze 6105 with controller
MP40~not on tank/ordered

Nice coral pictures. Do you have any problems with the tangs fighting? I have a purple tang and would love to add a Blue or yellow tang but I've read about tangs fighting in a smaller tank (I have a 120 too). Also is that a superman monti in the second posting?

Also I just purchased a Jebao MP-40 and I love it. That by itself is enough to handle my 120 gallon. I chose to use the reef mode as appose to the wave mode which is just too much water movement. Good luck with yours.

No issues with the tangs, they seem to get along very well, I have seen no arguing, unless feeding, which they sort of take turns, actually good citizens I think that monti is jedi mind trick, I believe or some sort of confuse, could be wrong though...

Actually using the ecotech mp40, with the tunze 6150, I believe, and the jebao mp25 and also forgot that I have an ecotech mp10 on the bottom too, since going bb, I wanted to have lots of flow,lol

Received the skimmer yesterday, hooked it up and am very impressed with the performance This is no modern upgrade by any means, but ATB has a great reputation, looking over the build and craftsmanship, I now understand why it was so popular in it's day. Here is a pic of the sump, pardon the mess with tubes and wires, have not had the chance to tidy up

Update:

Added mp40, and also added a Current Prime Tower 1/3 horsepower chiller, as the tank was exceeding 82 degrees with 72 degree ambient room temp. Now I am dialed in to 78 degrees, fluctuating only 2-3 degrees at most. The chiller supports a heater, which is nice, freed up 2 outlets on my pc4 DA Lite.

I also added 60lbs of live sand today, I know barebottom is a nice way to control the nutrients, and they have been very low, but looks much nicer with sand. Still waiting for the dust to settle so to speak

Here are my parameters tested:
CA=420
Alk=7.8
Mag=1250
PO4=0.02
NO3=2.5ppm
S.G.=1.025
Temp=78 degrees

Dosing ESV 2 part on aquahouse dosers, at 11 ml every 8 hours(33ml per 24 hours)

I have also added a granulosa, red planet, and pink prostrata since the last update. Things are settling in and I will update with a pic when the tank clears.

Very nice tank! You will be happy with the chiller, almost a must here in FL . Plus you save on evaporation using a chiller rather than fans. I too just recently added sand in my system as I was nutrient poor. Between adding sand and feeding a whole lot more, my corals are thanking me.

I am so happy for the peace of mind, knowing things will not get too hot in the tank, 8xt5's under a hood=heat fail...lol... Things are a lot nicer with sand, fish seem much happier too

Pic today of centerpiece coral, I dosed 1.5ml zeospur 2 days ago, the teal stag seems to like the supplement, really glowing and multi-tip branches are popping out all over
