Pete's 110 build

Sorry to hear about the Foxface Pete, that's always a bummer. :( The LED bars look awesome btw. Do you have any pics of them mounted above the tank yet?

Pete your tank is amazing and my new inspiration. I have the same dimensions as you and I hope one day for it to look like yours. I've spent the last few days going through your thread and I keep drooling and dreaming that hopefully mine will look half as nice as yours.

You have some amazing corals and your camera skills are top notch! Thanks for taking the time to share your amazing tank. Just a heads up before you get to attached to your sebae/ h. Crispa, you might want to consider a different anemone for yor 29 gallon tank. I have read that h. Crispas get quite large, some spanning 2ft. Across.

Ps. Your gbta is fantastic!

thanks Brett - I'll try to get some pictures of the 29g setup wih lights tonight. the tank is a mess right now as I'm also adding more flow and installing my old Reefkeeper 2 so there are wires and stuff all out of place. One of these days I want to change out the stand and add a sump to help they system parameters and looks of the display. With the new lights this little tank has gone from just a place to house a couple clowns and some shrooms to a decent looking lil tank.

thank you very much and welcome to RC - if you have any questions or want more details please feel free to post questions on the thread

thanks - I don't have to worry about the sebae as it didn't make it. Boy can those things go fast and stink up a tank. Last night I changed out carbon added an Allgone pouch and did a 20% water change. Everything else looks fine but this morning the water was still cloudy.

I'm not positive sure of it's demise but it did looked great for the first day and a half. It did wander close to a small power head and had part of it's side stuck to it so I suspect this was what did it in but it did not appear be that damaged from it as it was just a few tentacles in the screen and the side part of the foot was up against it. I went back to the store looking for another one but all the ones they had looked pretty sad so it could have also been stress from shipping etc just catching up. Nems can be funny like that. You think you did a good job getting them acclimated and can look great for a day or so then they go south on you.

The good news is the GBT ate and still looks great. I just hope the cloudy/polluted water doesn't hurt it. I'll post an update tonight when I get home.

I should be but get back to me later in the week. Did you want me to get with Servo (Ryan) or Marc or others to see if they are willing to show off?

Hi Pete. I may give Ryan a call but I'm not sure how much time I"ll have. Wanna bank a piece of that milli in Austin? :)

Sorry to hear about that sebae. That was a nice piece.

I'll send you a text this weekend when I figure out what our schedule looks like.

Sorry to hear about the h. Crispas demise. They go quickly if any part of there foot is damaged. Good luck with the gbta, I would love to see a picture whenever you get a chance.

for those DIYer reference

the lights, ballast and heat sinks were $140 plus shipping for both sets
the aluminum was ~$10
the project box ~$10
the wire, end connectors, hardware and misc I'd say another $30

so in total I have about $200 in both light bars

an otherwise boring green fuzzy mushroom

the GBT seems to be doing fine

and the frilly mushrooms look great under the multi colored led's -don't tell them but the clown fish think they are nem's

That's a cool looking tank Pete. Again, nice work on the LEDs
thanks Chris

Whoa that looks awesome! Slick little mounting ears too, I like how you added those to support the bars.
thanks Brett - those mounting ears are a safety add as the acrylic sits in the tank frame. Even with the ears I'm considering adding some other restraint as the other night I almost stuck one end of the light bar in the tank:wildone:

New Adds from DD

I saw this on Divers Den and jumped on it. I just hope it enhances and holds it's color.

Montipora Digitata with pink polyps

to complete the order I also picked up this Motipora Nodosa

Nice... hope it colors up for ya. I'm still working on coloring things back up from a nice big "snow storm" last month - Alk OD. Surprised nothing was lost especially my SPS but they're growing just need to color them back up.

thanks Rob, so far it's looking great. It has a very light baby blue base with pink polyps. It certainly looks best under LEDs but I just haven't been able to snag a good overall shot of it.

--------------------------------

I raided Robert at Fish2morrow a local reef store and snagged 4 nice SPS he had on a clearance sale

First off I've been looking for a nice center piece - I cut off most of the base, then drilled and pegged it
file.php

you can see how it fills the center section here in this 3/4 tank shot - that new pink monte is in the lower left corner

I'll try and get some pictures of the other 3 SPS tomorrow with full lights (the ones I took today didn't do them justice)
but I did also pick up an Aussie Gold Torch - and boy does this coral light up nicely when only the royal blue LED's are on

Yea this has definatly been one of my alltime favorite tanks. What is your lighting combo? In particular what are you running during your actinic shots? Basically how do you get so much purple highlight?

I still watch this vid atleast once a week lol. Cant beat good Celtic music.
