My camera has a couple white ballance settings including; auto, indoor, outdoor and a "one touch". The one touch is the only way I know of with full lights or actinics to get a tank video that will show some color other then blue.

Under the actinics I'll usually point the camera to the sand bed and use the one touch but this still casts most white as a purple and is not a true color as seen with the eyes (blues are almost washed out).

For this video I tried another trick, I used a piece of white paper set just outside the tank so it would be lit by the actinics and set the "one touch" to the paper (not the sand bed inside the tank). This helped true up the colors some, but it is still not true. For example my yellow rics look lime green and the pink lemonade looks all green. Next time I may try another version of the paper trick by using a blue piece of paper (or other colors) to see if I can trick the "one touch" setting into providing a more color acurate video.

I ordered some Kent Tech-M today, I'll see if it's as good as they say against this bryopsis.

My pH has taken an odd turn, the high at the end of the day has always been about 8.3 and for the past 3 nigts it has been peaking at almost 8.4. I've asked the wife if she has had the house open more for thinking it may be more available o2, we checked the Ca reactor, doors open on the tank etc and can't seem to pinpoint it. The only two things left I can think of is maybe with the higher temps outside the house heater isn't comiing on as much or the algae just decided to kick in high gear and is producing a lot more O2.

Everything else seems fine

Thanks Pete, very generous! I wonder if I should wait until I get the refugium / rock reservoir set up before I take you up on it. What do you think? I would think it would be the perfect place for such critters.

My pH meter was doing the same thing but after I re-calibrated it was back down to normal levels. Although my meter is probably a lot older than your seeing that you recently set up the Apex...

I would want to start with it in the sump/fuge as you suggest to let any pods and other macro life get a start. No rush, I'll see if I can find a decent piece of rock and hold it for you for when ever your ready.

Sounds good Pete. I'll be in touch about the critter crew. :D I don't even know if I really trust my pH probe at this point. It's reading from 7.9-8.1 roughly only after I calibrated it twice. Luckily I'm just monitoring, not controlling with it. Might need to get a new one myself. :)
 
My pH has also been reading up to 8.4 recently and my alk is in check. I would agree with Drummer about recalibrating the pH probe.

When I aggravate the polyps the sunset montepora it is a blue/purple underneath and the polyps range from mostly green with some orange in the base to a yellow
