Pete's 110 build

Here are some interesting shots
One of my frogspawn corals will grow out these odd pieces that have about 5 tips on a surface area about the size of what would normally be a single tip. These growths will break off and float around the tank looking for a place to establish itself. Most of the time (well all of the times up till now) they end up lost in the rockwork.

This one decided to attach itself to my hyacinth coral. I’m sure the battle is now afoot for surface area and I have no doubt the frogspawn will win. I’m torn between leaving it for a few days to see and document the process and removing it to prevent damage to the hyacinth.

Chris, how far off I35 are you? I may be heading to San Antonio next weekend and may be able todrop off some macro if you still want it.

Hi Pete. I'm about 6 miles off 35. I could meet you at 35 as well unless you want to stop over and see the tanks

I sold a bunch of frags last week and used the money for two new corals I picked up from a LFS

I have no idea what they are other then acroporas, so if anyone has any ideas please chime in. I'll try and get some better pictures posted later today with all the lights on

this first has some nice purple and teal green shades to it, and has an acro crab :). The colors didn't come out as true as I'd like but you can get an idea of shape etc from these first day in tank pictures

my sunset decided to invade some zoa space and it was winning - it looks like it was growing around the polyps agrovating them and slowly closing in around them

so I cut a slice in it and pulled it off

here you can see the circles it was forming around the zoa polyps (it's upside down in this picture, the other side is still pretty :) )

a few coral pics

the meteor shower
you can see new growth & polyps that are growing over an area that got munched on by an elephant limpet - you can make out 2 old polyp forms (now without polyps) just below the line of the 4 new small polyp. they are all just above the white line (cleaner shrimp antenae)

one arm is finaly starting to table on the strawberry tabling acro I got last year from onother reefer in the area (kind of reminds me of an ORA red planet)

here's nice picture of one of my acropora sp's - I posted pictures of this coral a few days ago but this picture just came out so nice and sharp I had to post it

the new corals from a local fish store are doing great

I think this one an acropora gemmifera - so far it's holding a nice lavender coloration

close up of some color highlights on the lower areas

this other new one is also doing great, I'm leaning toward this being an Acropora Loripes or Granulosa

it came complete with at least 3 barnicles (picture taken from the underside)

Beautiful tank and great macro work. I am new to the reef world but an experienced photog. I am currently in between SLRs as i sold my D7000 and all my lenses (F4 300mm and other great primes) to try the new sony 24.3 meg SLRs. I was not happy at all with the noise and low light performance so i returned the sony. Now im just playing around with my super zoom till i decide which direction to go, most likely canon 5d MII.

I wish I had a decent cmaera with more lens for both macro and Full Tank Shots (FTS)
for my macro shots I'm using my Sony HD video camera, I'm pleased with the results but I'm limited to how far away I can be for the pictures to come out clear (like 4-6" inside the glass with the camera right up against the glass)

Wowww,so beautiful.

thanks :)
