Pets Warehouse - Rose Coral

I picked up 2 Small Rose corals last night; they said they were from the Caribbean.

Anyone have some info on them?

They had a lot of fish on hand this visit, and also got in some of the most gorgeous live rock loaded with halimetia (sp) they shipping it in water not dry and even one piece had an anemone on it but the most interesting thing I found after getting 20lbs home was that a few of the pieces had several new growth corals on them.

I doubt many people have first hand experience with them since all Caribbean stony coral are protected and illegal to collect.

It's likely they're not from the carribean. I can't imagine PW would import illegal coral.

I was there the other day, they had a nice sized colony of green centered clove polyps. Not something you see everyday. I'd buy them if I didn't have them already.

I use photobucket.com. It is surprisingly easy, and they have an "img" code right under the picture that when clicked on copies the code for you so you can post it in your replies here with no fuss.

This forum doesn't let you upload pic's correct?

You need to link to them on another site?

You might not realize it, but every RC member has a photo gallery that they can upload pics too ;) In the little bar above your posts with the buttons for things like profile, is a little camera...that will take you to your gallery. From there you can upload pictures and place them in posts.

I spoke to them, they are aquacultured.

They opened up in the tank nice! :D

Aquacultured is still a problem unfortunately. There have been a few attempts at the idea of farming Caribbean stonies for the trade, all have been shot down due to an unwillingness by the involved regulatory agencies to make an exception for aquacultured stock.

Yea, as far as I know there isn't anyone legaly aquaculturing stony atlantic corals. I might be wrong but I think there is one loop hole, that is if it grows on aquacultured rock than it is fair game. and it sounds like you bought aquacultured rock if it was shipped with water. so they prob just chipped it off one of the rocks they got in.
pretty cool, I'd just treat it light a trach. brain if I were you.

There is a member here that has this one
