Ph to high

Am having a problem trying to lower the ph in my 55g tank it's been to high it like 8.8 how would I lower it I have done water changes 2 times this week I've been using some iodion and I put it in ones and it went up is that the problem can I put some ph buffer to lower it or something just stared my tank like 4 months ago what can I do

exactly what happened to me today! mine is 8.4 after adding iodine.

You can use UNFLAVORED pure selzer water to lower your PH. It contains carbon dioxide. See here for instruction. http://www.netpets.org/fish/reference/reefref/lowcarb.html

So just use seltzer water can I use the ones they sell at the stores

How are you getting these numbers?

Test kits rarely provide reliable numbers in that range. I would not dose a tank to try and change the PH via a test kits results. You need a calibrated probe to verify those numbers.

Oh I see well if it came out 8.8 and at that high rang I would asume it's relatively high so but if u have any other helpfull tips I would like to hear them thanks
