Since these bulbs are discontinued, I was wondering what alternatives are there that I can try that is similar

One of the locals posted this, and the dude is solid so I believe that he called:
Just got off the phone with Hexarc Blue. There was a big enough uproar on the discontinuation of that bulb that phoenix will be redoing production for the 250w DE bulb. Estimated timeframe for them to be back on the market is late May to late June. Continuation on the other bulbs will be TBD.

It should not be too long until somebody has more to say, either good or bad, so chilling is a good idea IMO.

My Pheonix died after 3 months and just replaced with a XM 15K bulb. It hasn't burned more than an hour, so can't compare. From what I'd read it seems like a comparable bulb. Glad to hear the Pheonix still will be flying.

Radium would be my next choice of bulb. Maybe a bit more hint of blue, but a excellent bulb none the less.

I guess something people should have asked is what type of ballast are you using?

For a temporary fix I am going with a 10K Ushio, I know there will be a big difference in color, but in looking I could not find any Giesemanns either?

The bottom line is that there is no replacement. 13K AB has some output, but it is yellow and they are REALLY proud of their bulbs - megachrome is about the same. The 15K and 20K XM have some blue, but don't have the output Radium does not make a 250W DE version (that I know of). 14K Hammy looks OK, but is less blue and has less output.

I am hoping that Phoenix makes a comeback. Radium could fill the hole by introducing a bulb. If that did not happen by the time that I ran out of my stockpile of 14K Phoenix, I am getting rid of the HQI redoing my lighting with 10K Hammy SE on M80 with VHO Super Actinics.

Edit: my experience with all of these bulbs is on m80 ballasts.

Sorry, I did forget that radiums are only DE when it's a 150w... Hope Phoenix makes a come back soon or radium comes out with a DE 250w bulb.

That would be sweet. Any update on ETA of bulbs being produced/hitting market?

Thanks!

Any news from Hexarc BLue about re-produce the Phoenix 14k 250W DE?

I spoke with multiple online vendors and they all said Phoenix is done, I am not holding my breath as looking on various sites all of the DE style bulbs are on sale and it looks as though they are being phased out. SE is still being produced.

So, if you run out of Phoenix bulbs, what bulb you think you recommend?
Thanks.

I have attached a couple of pictures, the second one is Phoenix 14k and the first is Ushio 10K. The Ushio new PAR reading was 25% higher than the Phoenix new
