Phosban Reactor 150

I recently ordered a Phosban Reactor 150 and received it today. I was planning on putting Chemi-pure Elite in it at first so I ordered some. The reactor instructs not to put media bags in the reactor but, the chemi-pure instructs to not take the media out of the filter bag. What should I do?

Hello Life~Reefer,

Thanks for the post, let me first suggest to you not to open the Chemi-Pure bag, it is very messy. You can use the bag of chemipure (Chemi-Pure) in its bag in the reactor you will need to make sure that the media in the bag is easily spread around in the chamber, the main reason the (they) suggest not to us (use) media with a mess (mesh) bag is because over time the pores in the mess ( Mesh) bag will become clogged with debris.

With this type of reactor it is normally recommended that the media used is not in a mesh bag, the free floating media in the reactor makes better contact with the water ( in the water column) to remove undesirables. I hope this information helps.

I just wanted to try this out at first. I tried both ways. When I cut open the bag and put it in the reactor I filtered it out into a gallon container and I saw millions of tiny particles floating out. Then I threw that out. When I tried to put the bag in the reactor It didn't look right so I ended up throwing the bag in the sump. I am going to switch to another media. I just wanted to try it but, overall it did not work.

Hello Life~ Reefer,

At least you gave it the ol' college try, here's a few different types of media's you may want to try in the reactor.. The D&D Rowa Phos found here

also the Seachem Purigen is a great product found here

and of course any type of carbon will also be fine too.

I hope this was helpful to you!
