phosban reactor necessary for SPS?

Use Phosban Reactor is cheaper than use only media in a bag. With reactor more media has contact with water, so you can use less media and usually for a longer period. It pays back in few months, besides doesn't hold all the crap that bag does.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I have a Phosban reactor and was wondering about the flow-through rate for the reactor. The directions say no tumbling, so I have only about 20gph flowing through right now, but it seems to me that without tumbling the media will just start to clump and channel in spots and then become a detritus/nitrate factory...any opinions or thoughts on this?

You can have some tumbling. It says not too violently tho as it can grind itself into a powder. I have mine tumbling a little.

when i ran one, i would pulse the flow through it a few times a week to try to prevent any clumping/channels.

most important thing i've noticed is to run it as far away from your kalk drip as possible.
