Phosphate and Phosar HC question

so would running the BRS pellets with the Rox carbon be a good mix for my TLF reactor? Or should I just stick with the regular granular GFO from BRS?

Just trying to get the most from my buck 'cause money is tight right now

[QUOTE I use GFO in the bottom of my reactor and seachem matrix carbon up higher tightly sandwiched between the second diffuser plate and sponge plate on top so it doesn't tumble but the GFO does. this works well for me. I can blow my GFO up to vulcano proportions and still the carbon doesn't tumble. Like I said though I have a 30g so reactor capacity is not an issue. you probably are better off using two reactors for a 90g especially if you choose not to use HC. [/B][/QUOTE]

Well I just bought the TLF reactor. Don't want to have to buy another dual chamber reactor setup.

So what's my best option for sticking with just the 1 TLF reactor. Can I get away with regular granular GFO on bottom with some regular (pelleted or lignite from BRS) carbon on top?

Lots of people, including me, have run carbon and GFO in the same reactor. The only downside is that you'll end up replacing both at the same time, even though only one might be exhausted. I didn't much care about that. Just keep the flow low enough that neither media is ground up by the motion.

I haven't used those products, so I have no idea. PhosBan and Phosphate Killer are fine. :) I think the pellet might get a bit better reviews in terms of not falling apart, but both are fine, as far as I can tell.

I've used all 3 brs products. IME: granular produces more dust particles than the others in a reactor and seems better suited to an application in a media bag; pellet works fine in a reactor but still produces some dust;Hc is firmer produces no dust I can see after the intial rinse, tumbles well and lasts about 1.5 times as long as the others.

TMZ. Do you think I can get away with running the regular granular GFO on bottom and the regular pelleted Lignite carbon on top in my TLF reactor? Or should I opt for the pelleted GFO?
